Description:

Hey everyone, I'm running a variation of the Three Category Challenge Swap I hosted before. (http://www.swap-bot.com/swap/show/46934) Basically you will choose things from each category (quantity for each category varies, see below) and send them to your partner. You will have one partner. This is sender's choice but please take into consideration your partner's interests and dislikes. I will be checking profiles.

No newbies for this one, sorry guys!! Need a 4.9+ rating for this and at least 5 swaps under your belt. This will be international as I like to include everyone but if I get enough response I might run a USA/Canada version. PM me or leave comments below with questions.

Typical Swap-botty Type Stuff Category: CHOOSE THREE!

  • 1 decorated/altered and filled 32 count matchbox (senders choice for theme)

  • 20 random assorted buttons

  • 10 personalized swap cards

  • 10 random assorted brads

  • 1 sheet of personalized address labels

  • 2 handmade envelopes

  • 1 handmade ATC (senders choice for theme)

  • 3 postcards (1 touristy, 1 artsy, 1 random)

Fancy/Inspirational category: CHOOSE THREE!

  • something interesting you found on the ground

  • a list of songs that you think your partner would like (that they should look into getting from iTunes or somewhere else) based on their interests

  • a quote that you like that you put on paper and somehow make fancy (decorated, on cardstock, printed, etc.)

  • a profile surprise

  • a list of 30 things that makes you happy

  • a one page introductory letter to your partner

  • 1 baby food jar sized whimsey jar

  • 1 thrift store goodie/surprise

Challenge Category: CHOOSE ONE!

  • empty the contents of your wallet or another place where you might keep keepsakes. pick out random items that you think represent you. place them onto a photocopier (you can also tape them onto a piece of paper so they stay easier when you flip it over) and make a xerox of your momentos. the xerox is the finished copy. number the items on the xeroxed copy and write a corresponding key/legend for your partner letting them know what each thing means.

  • participate in and document a random act of kindness (i.e. photograph what you do while not giving away your purpose to strangers) such as leaving something nice/special out for someone to find, putting a quarter in a parking meter that has run out of money, or give someone begging for money on the street some food or money, etc. anything to brighten someone's day. write to your partner a little note about what the act was, how it made you feel, when/where it was done, etc.

  • a mini version of the 365 photo project: take a picture each day for one week and print your pictures off and write on the back of each photograph what the picture is of, what it means/represents, when it was taken, etc.

Mary, this is just about the coolest swap I've ever seen. I'm flabbergasted. :)

maryhassound 04/ 3/2010 #

I'm flabbergasted that you just used the word flabbergasted. Also, thank you.

AshleyMargaret 04/ 4/2010 #

I love the word flabbergasted. I also love the word onomatopoeia. But that's besides the point. You are very welcome! :)

merlainne 04/ 4/2010 #

This will be awesome and challenging. I am joining because you are hosting and I adore you and all you do.

papercaper 04/ 4/2010 #

I love the word onomatopoeia! I used to pride myself at school for knowing how to spell it (poor self-esteem, yes), and I like knowing I'm not the only one. :D

@maryhassound I couldn't agree more. It's incredibly tempting to join. Will watch until I've cleared some backlogue of swaps already joined. ;)

maryhassound 04/ 4/2010 #

@merlianne i adore YOU. thank you for joiningggg.

@papercaper yay! just don't forget to join towards the end. i'm excited at how many people are already watching this swap!!

AshleyMargaret 04/ 4/2010 #

OMG I used to do the same thing in high school with onomatopoeia. I learned how to spell it really fast and now it's like a party trick. Hahahaha. I have a sad life, obviously.

maryhassound 04/ 4/2010 #

Hahahha. I like that that's your party trick. Hey, hey guys! Watch me spell!!!!!

monbeaucher 04/ 4/2010 #

hahhaah i love you guys XD

AshleyMargaret 04/ 4/2010 #

Hahaha. I LOVE SPELLING. I can't help it, it's an addiction.

naddie 04/ 4/2010 #

looks interesting (: but I have quite a number of swaps now so I'll be watching ^^

sweetypiedie 04/ 5/2010 #

This looks awesome. I'm thinking that I'll have to make room in my life for it. Which means putting it on the watch list while I take care of other responsibilities.

thebragal 04/ 7/2010 #

what is a swap card?

maryhassound 04/ 7/2010 #

@thebragal

a swap card is a small (usually business card sized) piece of paper or cardstock with your name and swap username along with whatever other information you want to include with your swap. it's basically a little info card that you leave a blank line for what the swap is, what date you sent it, what items are in the package, etc. you can make them on your computer. i usually add an image to mine too. :) hope this helped.

Fantastic idea! Unfortunately, I can't commit right now but will be looking out for something similar in the future. Good luck, everybody! :-))
