Description:

The idea for this swap is taken from the scavenger hunt types swaps I have seen. But with a fabric twist.

You must send 5 fabric or fabric/sewing related items to your partner. Things like fat quarters, ribbon, thread, buttons, seam rippers, iron-ons, pincushions, etc. would work.

But what you send, each item must go for one of the following categories:

  1. Something black and white

  2. Something silver

  3. Something with stripes

  4. Something sharp

  5. Something Asian

Confused yet? Let me give you an example to explain it better.

I might send my partner a yard of black and white polka dot ribbon for #1, a spool of silver metallic thread for #2, a fat quarter for #3, a seam ripper for #4, and a fat quarter for #5.

Or I could do a spool of variegated thread for #1, a card of buttons for #2, a yard or two of striped ribbon for #3, a package of pins for #4 and a pincushion made up in Asian fabric for #5. As you can see, you can get really creative with this and have some fun.

Or I could send 5 fat quarters that fit each of the categories. But you cannot send five items for only one category (like 5 something blue) or one item for all five categories. There must be five items. And all of the categories must be represented.

And since this is a question I would have, yes, items can qualify as more than one category. For instance, I could send a fat quarter that would work for the something black and white and something Asian but I would need to use it for one category only.

With this swap I also ask that you include a note explaining which of your choices is for which number.

You could make some of the items – as long as they fit one of the categories and are fabric / sewing related. So let’s say you want to make a striped needle book for #3 that’s fine because it would be striped.

So to sum up, five fabric or fabric related items that each fit into one of the above categories. And a note telling which item goes for what.

Now the rules: There is no dollar amount set for this swap but I ask that you not send junk or used items (unless maybe like a cool vintage item). Also no little scraps of fabric. If you are going to send fabric it must be a minimum of a fat quarter. And with ribbon, it must be a minimum cut of one yard. And I ask that you check your partner’s profile for likes/dislikes. Sending your partner blue embroidery thread would work but if they don’t embroider, it’s useless.

This swap is international and open to swappers with ratings of 4.5 or higher. No newbies. I reserve the right to ban swappers at my discretion. And please, make sure your profile is filled out. If it isn’t, I might think you aren’t serious about swapping and I might choose to ban you.

If you have questions about this swap or something isn’t clear, please pm me. Thanks!

This is great! I'm looking to add to fabric stash and goodies as I'm learning to sew!

I just have a question -- can we say a quarter yard, instead of a fat quarter? Some fabric stores won't cut fat quarters off the bolt but they will do regular quarter yards.

I don't want to find, buy, and send the perfect fabric and get a bad rating 'cause it's a quarter yard, not a fat quarter!

what i do is if i find a fabric on the bolt i like than i just get a half yard. you cut that in half and viola! two fat quarters. normally i like the fabric so much i want to keep it anyway so it's not a problem. : )

Oh no problem. If there ever is interest in having just a US version, I wouldn't be opposed to hosting that too : )

What purple morgan is hosting is NOT a us only version of this swap but her own copied version of my swap (this one and the two others so far).

i think i might be interested in a US only one. the postage on mine was $9 to the UK for the last one :/ kind of expensive when the package weighs only 10oz
