~Friendbooks~ (fbs)

These are really simple. Friendbooks travel around the world from one penpal to another. It creates a little network of friends. In the end you get to see all the places its been and hopefully meet some new fbs lovers to talk to.

We're sending 5 fbs to one person so they have a better chance of coming back to you. Sometimes they may get lost in the mail, or someone may not know what to do with them and they never make it home. Sending 5 gives you a better chance of seeing one of the little guys again. Also they may take different paths, see different places, and help you make different friends.

What they are

They range from 3in x 3in to 5in x 5in depending on how much information you want people to put.

  • Just take a piece of cardstock, or thick paper, cut it to be about 4inches by 4inches when folded. Put a little decoration on the front, a few sparkles or stickers. Get creative.

  • Staple about 3 pieces of paper inside (The more room it has on the inside the more information people can put and the longer they'll be travelling the world ) So if you want it to come home faster use less paper. Also remember to use paper that people will be able to sign. Try using paper that isnt black and doesnt have much print on it.

  • Next add your address on the inside of the cardstock with 'Return to: (your address) when full' inscribed.

~When you recieve your fbs~

  • Sign your name and add your address, some people like to add interests for whoever it returns to.

  • After you sign your name send them out to someone else who is not already in the book. Try to send them to a penpal or someone that does fbs too.

  • When it gets full the last person is supposed to send it back to the creator. Dont send the fbs back until all of the space is taken up and no one else can fit in. Do Not keep the full fbs for yourself, wouldnt you be sad if none of your fbs ever came home after that long hard journey around the world?

If anyone else has a question do not hesitate to send me a message

I hope you guys have fun and I'm so glad you signed up for my swap!!

Yours is the best explanation I've seen for these things.

Are the FBs for this swap new or established? I have many to pass on before I make some new ones. Thank you for letting us know about this swap.

billowing 04/21/2010 #

@barbara A lot of people will be sending only new, but I'm sure some newbs would appreciate a couple of established ones so they can see how its done :)

I'll be sending a mixture.

Hi Billowing!! I've made and passed FB's before..I love it!! It's a great way to find penpals and person to person swappers.. Thanks for offering this swap to newbies here, like me.. -Jan

This looks like a lot of fun. I would love to make some FB's & send them on. Thank you for the detailed explanation & pictures. And for letting newbies join. I can't wait to get started using up my paper supplies as this is a great way to recycle & meet new people too. Haha, 2 "rhino" replies in a row! ;)

I just want to know that i get it....I will make these 5 little booklets and send them on. When I get the 5 that I am sent I write in them , and then what? Wait for another swap to send then???

billowing 04/27/2010 #

@guppies Well if you want to send some out, but not deal with the hassel of getting any in return you can find someone else who would like to enjoy them on the site in the forums, like a private swap. Then you can either make and receive more or just wait for your little ones to come back.

The reason you're putting your name and address in these fbs is to kind of advertise yourself as a penpal. "Hey guys if you'd like to send me a letter go ahead!" kinda thing. If you're not open to receiving anything, just dont participate in making fbs or putting your name in any.

I've been kinda hosting a series of these swaps so everyone has someone to pass them onto and no fbs get stuck.

I hope that answers your question, though sending me a pm would get a much faster response :)
