How does it need to hang and do we provide the necklace part or can it be a pin attachment?

It needs some kind of loop, so you can attach it to a necklace. There is no need sending a necklace with, just the pendant itself. It should be a pendant, if attaching a pin it would more be like a brooch. I hope that helped you. If something else is unclear please ask more^^!

Can we use an actual mermaid charm that I add glass beads and stuff to, to make a pendant?

Am really sorry, but for this swap you should make the pendant yourself, so not using an actual mermaid charm and decorate it. Although you can feel free to use glass beads and make a beaded mermaid of it. Or embellish some bottlecap or another background and add a selfmade mermaid to that. I can host a new jewelry swap in the future where you can use an actual mermaid/related charm and use that to create a new jewelry item with it.
