Description:

International & USA Knitting Pattern Exchange

You will have two partners.

You will send one knitting pattern to each of your partners.

You have a choice of the following types of patterns to send:

  a. scarf
  b. mittens
  c. socks

Please purchase this pattern, please do not print out free patterns from the web (most of us can get those ourselves, this will be more fun to see what you can find where you live).

It should not cost you more than $5-$7 USD (if it does, that's fine, it's your choice). You may even be able to find one on clearance at your local yarn store. I know I've found some in the past for a buck!

If you have a pattern you've already purchased in the past, by all means, you can send that - just please do not copy your pattern - remember the copyright laws are there for a reason!

We will keep it a surprise with regards to what someone is sending you. That is why the timeframe is so short between the end of sign ups and when the pattern is due to be mailed. People can be looking for their patterns now before sign ups end.

I'm excited to do this because I am in need of something different in my pattern stash. How about you?

Open to all those with a rating of 4.500 and above AND a filled out profile only. Why am I being fussy? Easy answer is that there are too many folks skipping out on their swaps lately with no explanations. That ruins the experience for those affected by one person's actions.

If someone would like to set up a newbie swap like this one, please do so.

Thanks for understanding!

Can we design a pattern of our own to send? I never purchase patterns b/c I make up my own stuff...

Cakers 08/12/2007 #

KT - yes, absolutely you may! In fact, silly me, I designed a pattern myself last year that's out on knitting pattern central that I forgot about. But be sure to do it up nicely on decent paper, you know what I mean? I'm guessing that's what you would have done but I had to say it. I'll do the same, I'll attach a photo as well like they usually do in the yarn stores. Thanks for asking and sorry it took me so long to respond, I've been out of town. :-)

Is it ok if we print out a pattern we -purchased- on the web? I'll use good paper and put it in a plastic sleeve.

Hi Peety, sure, I think that's fair. :-)

as this swap is international i have one question before i join in (maybe a stupid one, but i have to ask anyways...) if i purchase a pattern it's naturally in german, so my partners may not be able to read it, and it wouldn't be fun for them to get something they can't use. would it be okay to translate it into english, then print it out, with the pictures of the original pattern added?

Hi Sew-mad - my answer is yes and I didn't see your comment before assigning partners so I hope you signed up. I'm so sorry!!

I forgot to ask...is this a secret swap?

Hi Stephanie - your choice! :-)

Stephanie: I forgot to have Amazon put my name on your package. When it arrives tomorrow, the pattern book from the mystery sender is me!
