Description:

I adore all things Day of the Dead, it's the sadness of death tempered with the sweetness of life.

For this swap, make TWO DOD matchbox SHRINES, ONE for each partner, using 32 count matchboxes.

Remember, a SHRINE is a tiny work of art with personal meaning, paying tribute to it's subject, NOT a randomly filled box of stuff.

Your shrines can celebrate the Holiday, serve as a remembrance of a special person or pet, or be purely decorative, celebrating the fabulous colors and images that are appealing about the festivities (skulls, sugar skulls, skeletons, marigolds & flowers, food & drink, Frida, religious symbolism, cemeteries, etc.) You can use any materials, papers, fabric, clay, charms, ribbons, beads, stones, bling, dried flowers, small trinkets, small photographs, text, the more embellished the better. Remember, you are decorating the boxes INSIDE and OUT. Boxes can slide open like a standard matchbox or be manipulated to open any way you choose. Altho your matchbox bases are only a small standard 32 count matchbox, your shrines can be as big as you're willing to make it around that box (or willing to pay postage to send).

Since this is a slightly labor intensive swap, you'll have a month after sign up ends to create, but you can start now since it's not profile specific. USA only but if there's int'l interest I'll consider. No newbies, sorry. Seasoned craft swappers with at least 15 crafty/handmade swaps, consistent 5's, no ones or threes ever without great explanation. If this isn't you, PM and convince me.

Recuerde!
