Weekly Journal Prompt: Soapboxes

For this swap, you will create a journal page using the provided prompt. A prompt is a cue, suggestion or seed idea to start you off creating your journal page. It can be an art page, a written page, or whatever combination you wish, but it should use an entire composition book size page of 7.5" x 9.75" (19 cm x 24,7 cm) with enough margin to allow a partner to mount the page into their own journals--1/4" (1/2 cm) or so margins. Use only one side of the page. Fold to send or not is up to sender, but to keep the postage reasonable, participants should expect folded pages.

This will be a weekly swap. I will post late in the week, but no later than Saturday. There will be approximately two weeks between the posting date and the send date, so at any given time there may be two weekly swap prompts leapfrogging.

I will angel this swap.

Newbies welcome, this is a good way to get started journaling, but no unsatisfactorily explained ones or threes, or no-send comments.

This is an international swap. Considering that international senders will regularly be paying international postage, be prepared to pony up for the occasional international postage. If you are assigned an international partner and really, truly, can’t afford the postage, PM me and we’ll work something out.

Each swap in the series has had more watchers that swappers, and I'm curious...why the hesitation to sign up? Just curious. I welcome suggestions to make it more welcoming to participants, such as a longer time to send or signup. I'd make adjustments to the next swap in the series if I felt they were warranted.

For my part, I've never done a journal swap and always drop out due to nervousness: I'm a hardcore writer, but can't scrapbook, so I figure somebody might be disappointed - in the same way I feel I might be disappointed if my page didn't have enough written content.

But I do love the idea of doing a journal swap one page at a time...

...ah darn it, you've convinced me :p

Question: should the page be stiff card, or is something floppier and papery OK?

The partners that I've received from, and I myself, have just used a sheet of composition paper.
