Description:

I am going to keep ths as straightforward as possible!

So, for this swap of awesome nerdiness you will be creating a set of magnets for your partner, themed to one of the three original Super Mario games and handmade from paper/cardstock using your own drawings/traced or copied images. You can print images out to use but you must back them on sturdy card and make certain they are decently coloured. You could even use wood or shrink plastic if you want to be extra creative!

I am keeping this old school, no Wii nonsense, just the first three games, Super Mario bros, Super Mario 2 and Super Mario 3.

Firstly, choose one of the games. This is senders choice. Then choose your level or scene (water, desert, bowsers castle etc) and then plan and design your magnets themselves.

I have included the graphic above which is a perler bead magnet set and this is the kind of thing you want to end up with (not in beads).

The set must contain:

  • One main game playing character (varies depending on which game you choose)

  • At least 5 different pieces of inanimate 'scenery' (blocks, pipes, platforms, clouds etc) multiples of the same item count as one item, ie, 3 bricks or 3 pipes count as one of the same item.

  • At least 3 bad guys or foes (goomba, fish, bomb, hammerman etc)

  • 1 'power up' object (fireflower, mushroom, invincibility star, feather or somethng else.)

  • Lastly, make at least 1 extra thing. One is all you have to make but you may want to do extra scenery or more bad guys or 'effects', the choice is yours and there are many possibilities and there may be somethng I have not mentioned that you want to include.

Please take note of the game and levels you are guided by and only create items that would be found there. However do not worry too much over whether a particular level had a red or green turtle or how many goombas walked in that scene etc. Use common sense, research and take inspiration from a screenshot or other image.

Make certain your 'pieces' are sturdy and back them with magnets/magnet tape. You may also want to seal them, if they are painted or coloured, using plastic or a glaze.

Please make this set cool and awesome and full of refridgerator fun for your partner and as always use your creative imaginations. The above list is a guide to the minimum amounts of items so feel free to make extras and add as much mega mario marvelousness as you like =D

I am giving loads of time for this!

I think I have covered the main points and tried to forsee any questions but please comment below so I can add or change anything as needed and so I don't forget anythng that may be important!

Can I make the magnets out of polymer clay? I am not sure if my final project will be made out of it but I want to test it out.
