Hello!

I was scavenging through my bookshelf today looking for inspiration for an upcoming book swap and realized I had piles of recipe books around me. Then I had some thoughts: 1. I have a problem. 2. I really wish I could trade these in for new ones. 3. Wow I really do have a problem. 4. RECIPE BOOK SWAP! Duh.

And so here we are. Okay, so, uh, lets get on with the rules.

Swapdarlings, please give the gift of one of your old recipe books. Don't necessarily give away your most dearest recipe book, but something with some good stuff in that you think might make another person salivate. Only send really beat up books covered in pancake gunk, greasy fingerprints and vinegar stinks if the recipes are stand outs. The point is to give away something tired that you have used over and over or don't use at all to get something new and excitingggg!

Please only join if you have a rating over 4.5 and no recent no-sends. Newbies are more than welcome but I am totally going to peek at your profile to make sure you're not just a sinister creep trying to score a free used cookbook, OKAY?

You will have one partner.

You can add anything additional you would like for extra hearts, maybe you have a couple of cookbooks you're willing to bestow, or some nice recipe cards, a glazed ham perhaps?

This Swap is International because thats more fun, but all recipe books must be in English please!

This is my first swap ever of all time so if I have missed anything, and Im sure I have, please me questions.

Thanks!

I have a million and two of those church and community compilation recipe books. I hope my partner likes those!

Not to be a poop but books can be expensive to send internationally. It cost me $12 to send one paperback to Brazil....

twobluecrows 09/29/2007 #

It cost me $35 to send one to Spain last year--and the cost of postage has gone up!

Karalalala 10/ 1/2007 #

Gah! I didnt realize that. I'll have to send a light, thin recipe book... Thanks for the heads up.

Pointy party hat - Those community and church ones are my all time favorite!

And to everyone who is a fan of collecting unique cookbooks stay tuned to my Etsy shop as I'll be selling my own cookbook in November. I've been writing one to raise funds for our adoption costs. www.forcelestina.etsy.com

To whoever I get, I'm really looking for kid friendly cookbooks to add to my library, just a hint... ;-)

Just thought I'd mention that one thing to save a little on the postage is (for the ones sent in the US to other US places anyway) you can send books via media mail. When I sent a book the last time the gal said it goes about the same speed as standard mail, but at about half the cost! So if you don't mind that, money can be saved. I know we all want our swaps as soon as possible, but this is just an idea since sending books can get expensive quick. I'm fine with my swap partner sending to me via media mail and I hope I can do the same.

Karalalala 10/12/2007 #

Oh, helpful! >8)

Is media mail available in Canada too? Ive never heard of it, Ill have to bother my friendly neighborhood postman with questions!

CelestialFreak 10/15/2007 #

Yeah, I don't know if that works for Canada too. I'd imagine it might, but I don't know for sure.

I really wish I could stay in this swap, but I need to cut back because I've got too many things on my plate right now. If you make this swap again please be sure to PM or comment me to let me know. Sorry for the drop, it's a great swap, I just can't be in so many right now.

LizaJne 11/ 1/2007 #

Let's get this swap on! I've got some cookbooks yes that's plural to unload. I need some new stuff to cook and the fam is tired of me making it up as I go!

Karalalala 11/ 2/2007 #

Thats alright CF, tooootally understandable, believe me! We'll see how this swap goes and maybe catch you again on round 2! >8)
