Description:

Hi everyone! Sorry if this has been done before. This swap will ultimately be in several parts, (26 x 2 to be exact) the end goal is to end up with an alphabetic journal / scrap book where each page has been made by a different swap-bot user.

In this part, 'A is for...part1' your task is to select small items such as; stickers, brads, buttons, sequins, craft papers, stamps, charms, motifs, recipe cards, fabric, magazine cut-outs, flyers, postcards etc that have a relation to the letter 'A' such as; Apple, Angel, Antelope, angles (for the mathematicians amongst us) aliens, animals, characters or celebrities who's name begins with A, ie Avril Lavigne, landmarks beginning with A, Ace (playing card symbol) astronaut, atari, anything you want, but keep it fairly clean (as in no Anus)

these will then be sent to your partner for them to use to create a scrapbook page, approximately A5 in size. in part two of this swap, you would make a page using the items you received, then exchange this page with another user.

sender's choice, can keep it low cost, under $5.50 /£4 / Γ’β€šΒ¬5 for items and postage.

newbies are welcome with a well-filled out profile. I will ban anyone who appears to be a persistent flaker, but I am aware that life does sometimes get in the way, so I will allow those with a current rating of 3. (give you a chance to redeem yourself) I am happy to angel this swap and would like volunteers to help with this if it is necessary. *This is my first time hosting a swap, so any advice is welcome *

I would LOVE this idea more if it was for ATCs instead of Scrapbook pages. I find scrapbook pages a bit large and intimidating. Will you be doing an atc version?

kittenred 01/30/2011 #

I find ATC's a little binding on the size, plus I've seen several alphabet ATC's swaps they're a fairly regular occurrence, which is why i went with A5 sized pages. (bigger than a postcard but small enough to fit most medium sized envelopes)

If this worked out ok, then maybe could do an ATC or postcard sized version in the future.

what an awesome idea!

But then you have to join the second swap as well? I do not understand it, I am afraid.

if you didn't want to continue the pages, then that's up to you. the idea is that you make a page using what you receive which is then swapped with another user.

If you don't want to swap materials, you could make up your own using your own materials, then you can join part 2 which is a page exchange.

Way to go on having such a fantastic idea for your first swap!! I love the idea that it's larger than an ATC because I've got millions of those lil buggers lying around. And now I'm much more enthralled with art journaling/board books/altered books. I think this is fantastic!

if anyone thinks of other A's to add to the list... astronaut, grade A, Afghan dogs, etc, please comment so they can be added to the list of ideas.

Rating requirement of 3??? That is very low and flakerbait, to get stuff for free. Just my opinion.

Is A5 half of a regular computer paper size?

kittenred 02/14/2011 #

Yes it is low, but wanted to give more people the option to take part, and have prepared extra supplies incase of flakes.

Yes, a5 is half of a4 paper / computer paper. Can buy packs of it at a5 size. I recommend a5 card though for part 2 as it'll take the wright of buttons better. And can also stitch into it if u like when its time to make the page up.

I have checked the ratings of all those signed up so far and there's no 3's there to worry about.
