Description:

Ok so everyday I have requests from people who want to join the group (YAY!), and everyday I approve new members - we're now have over 260 people in the group (WOW!). But its still the same small group of people who join the swaps and not the new members!

So today I was wondering why?! I thought perhaps new members want to join the swaps but arent confident enough about their work, so here it is a swap for EVERYONE to get involved, a I'M NEW TO INCHIES swap!

So if you want to start swapping inchies then sign up! It doesn't matter if these are your first ever inchies (or if you are a pro/addict and just cant resist a swap!), it will be fun & simple!

You will have TWO partners (so you get to see two different styles!), and you will make each partner FOUR inchies! Any theme, any style, just so long as you try!

Tips for good Inchies -

  • Must be 1" x 1" when finished.
  • Must be sturdy, so use thick card, old cereal boxes, chipboard etc for the base.
  • MUST not just be a sticker on a square of card!
  • Think layers, so start with your base card, stamp on this, or add some coloured paper, old book pages, etc. Then add your main decoration/theme, add any further embellishments, buttons, brads, gems all fit on inchies!
  • Inchies can be handdrawn, painted, or even sewn if you are really talented (not me!!)
  • Have fun creating!

If you have any questions, then please ask below and i'll do my best to answer then asap.

SIGN UP RULES - please read before joining.

•By joining the swap, you agree to making quality inchies which will be posted on time. Non senders will be banned from future swaps, and dropped from the group.

•I reserve the right to ban anyone from the swap if I feel they will not be able to fulfill the swap.

•No flakers! If you see a known flaker sign up, please let me know and I will contact them. I'd rather lose a flaker than a bunch of good swappers.

•Note this is an International Swap - you may get an overseas partner!

•Finally - everyone should have fun! If you are having any problems completing the swap please email me and your partners BEFORE the mail by date, so we can resolve any issues.

I'm not new to inchies but to inspire some new people, each of my partners will get inchies in four different styles. Hopefully that will help a new-to-inchies person get an idea of the possibilities and will help them find their own style. I love to see what other people are doing. Even newbies. Go ahead. Give it a try.

Thanks @joanieponytail57 ! That's the spirit!

I am new to inchies and what scares me off is the amount of inches-this one for instance has two partners and 4 inchies each-which is a little intimidating if your new at a craft-if I had one partner and had to send 2, I would more likely join because it would give me the chance to try, but not feel too much pressure ;)

@Cyndimom - Valid point. :) The other side to that is that a lot of people want to max out their postage value. If I end up with two international partners, I'll be spending $3.50 on stamps - I'd rather make and receive eight inchies total versus four. ;)

Don't be afraid - inchies are great fun! Just have fun with the creative process and let them take you where they will. You will find your own/preferred style in time. :) (And we won't bite, I swear!)

Good point @cyndimom I always think from a postage point of view because 99% of the time I'm sending International. Plus I also chose 4 from 2 partners so everyone was getting possibly very different Inchies. Remember you can send both partners the same set of Inchies, so you really only need to make 4 Inchies twice! ;) As @marryth says we don't bite so consider taking the plunge & I'm sure you'll find it's fun to make Inchies!

or -- if someone flakes on you, you get at least something from one partner, if you have 2 partners. :o)

@doublesided - Nooooo! You naughty temptress! I am so busy and trying to cut back on swaps for the next few weeks, but you're tempting me with your inchie madness. ;-)

doublesided 02/14/2011 #

Ha ha always happy to tempt people with inchies! ;)

HollyBear 02/14/2011 #

Oh what the heck, I'm joining in this. Never made an inchie and day in my life... so here goes.

I just wanted to leave a note that I did send this out on March 1st, I just forgot to get online until 3 in the AM to mark it sent. :) Happy swapping, all!
