Description:

This swap is for anyone that considers themselves an artist and who would like to connect on a personal level with other artists. I thought it would be fun to put together a package/envelope all about the type of art you do, what you are working on, etc.

The items to include in your package/envelope are:

  • a letter describing yourself artistically speaking: what type of art you like to make, what inspires you, your favorite artists or styles, your background, etc.

  • 3-5 questions you would like your partner to answer about your art. This is your opportunity to gather information and feedback about your work.

  • a piece of your original art work. The size/medium/subject are up to you, but the piece must be at least standard atc size. ATC artists are most welcome. Please do not send a photograph of your work unless the photograph is the work.

  • a link to your online art portfolio (blog, website, flickr) OR photo quality print outs of at least 5 artistic pieces you have made in the past. Most people have an online presence but I did not want to exclude anyone.

If you would like to include extra art, promotional items related to your art (like artist postcards), or anything else you feel would enhance your partner's experience of you art please feel free to do so. This is not a requirement.

The art being sent, as well as the type of media used and the subject matter of the art are all sender's choice. Nudity is allowed as long as it is not used in a pornographic context.

Disclaimer Art is a subjective term, interpreted differently by each of us. That being said... this swap is not for crafts like scrapbooking, handmade jewelry, quilting or knitted items. Swappers signing up should be prepared to showcase their passion and expression in visual fine arts such as painting, illustration, mixed media, collage, sculpture, photography, etc.

Rate a 5 if your partner has sent you everything in the must send list. Do not base your rating on whether you like their art.

International swap. You must have a 4.9 rating, no recent no-sends, and no shady activity to participate. I reserve the right to ban anyone I feel will not follow through, including people who only have ratings based on online swaps. I will angel if there are any flakers.

Is street art okay? I'm just a bit shaky about how I could fulfill the requirements, since my art isn't so much about the visual parts, how it looks, but about the ideas behind it. Political mostly. Quite often including text, in Swedish.

@Cityclicker that sounds well cool! I'd like to see that! You could send images of what you paint? Still, down to the coordinator. :) Xx

Cityclicker 04/14/2011 #

Thing is, I don't paint. I just make posters and text stickers and stuff.

Cityclicker... as long as you include a piece of original art then I think you would be fine. You could send a poster or some stickers. Street art is awesome!

The link portion of it, can it be a business card? Or do you have to e-mail the links to your partner? I am a bit unclear.

@blondie78t Yes the link is meant to be written down, either included in your letter or on a biz card or swap card.

I find it a little unfortunate that jewelry is not considered as I make original pieces including found items and things that cannot be replicated but I do other art forms, I know other people who make really creative non-replicable (is that a word?) jewelry items. But I do collage art as well, yay!

I love the idea of this swap. I hope more people join!

Half of us have not sent as of today so I am extending the due date by 2 days just to make sure everyone completes the swap on time.
