I have a couple of questions for those of you that collect stamps... How do you remove stamps from envelopes other than cutting around them? Also, do people who collect post cards remove the stamps from them or leave them on? Just curious how other people do things. Thanks!

@theirmimi That's a tough question =P I do usually cut around and soak the part into water but I know there are methods with steam that shouldn't require you to cut the envelope. I do collect postcards but I do always try to have them sent to me in an envelope..if that's not the case then I do decide if I like the postcard more or the stamps !

Is it acceptable if I don't remove the stamps from the envelopes, only cut them around?

Ribbons 05/15/2011 #

@theirmimi Here's how I do it . I am too selfish to cut the envelopes I get ( if they are beautiful ). So here's how I do it. I get a small cup full of lukewarm water, and soak that small part of the envelope where the stamp is pasted on ( remove the letter before you soak it ). Then leave it like that for a few minutes and the stamp will come off. Then get the envelope out, remove the water and let it dry. :):) Don't iron it because it tend to rip ! So that's how I do it. No need to soak the whole envelope. But if the envelope is not a special one, I just cut it out like usual and soak it and get the stamp !:):) You can do this for postcards too. That how I save the card ! :)

Unfortunately I have to drop from this swap!! :( Our postal service is going on strike and I don't want to risk not being able to send out when I am supposed to ....I will sign up again if there is another one after the strike is over... I'm sad to have to drop this one!

I'll join (for Norway) when it's closer to the sign up date! There is usually no competition for that spot anyway ;P
