Description:

This is another in an occasional series of green/recycled craft projects, allowing us to raid our stashes and upcycle normal household materials into something lovely to look at. In this swap we will create a pendant that can be displayed as-is or used as part of a banner. If there is sufficient interest, we can do more of these swaps and build lovely banners as we go. You can join one or several.

The ‘green’ element in this swap is a firm base of cardboard (think: cereal box, shirt box, etc), old file folder, or fabric (something with body so it can hold its shape). Whether it is fabric or paper, choose a base that had a previous life as something else (e.g., packaging, tote bag, jeans, etc.). Cut out a triangle that measures approximately 5-9” across the top. Exact dimensions are senders choice, but your finished project should be no less that 5”across the top and 6” down to the point. Put holes in either side of the top portion so that your partner can hang it up.

Decorate at least one side using paint, ink, paper, fiber, and/or fabric to create unique and interesting layers. Embellish with words, rosettes, ruffles, jewelry bits, flowers, tags, glitter, lace, fabric, beads, or anything Somerset-like.

Theme and color palette is Sender’s Choice. Craft with the care and quality we’ve all come to associate with Somerset Publications. Picture shown above is from Jerri Kay

All group rules apply. Please PM me with any questions or list them here.

Who doesn’t need a little more Somerset loveliness? Let’s get crafting…

EDITED: I have complete faith in this group of swappers but should an angel be necessary, one will be arranged. No worries about getting flaked on: We've got your back, Somerset friends!!

Yes, isn't that one great?! Such fun little touches! I have some colorful oilcloth and I was thinking of trying something like that with it? I've already started some others, but if I have time I may try one with a whimsical retro look.

Thanks to everyone who joined so far. I made some this weekend and am having a blast with these. Could get addictive...I'm hoping there's enough interest to do a series of these. It would be lots of fun to fill my craft room with your lovely creations!
