Make me a potholder July: 4th of July

Can you purchase a plain pot holder and embellish it or revamp it?

Ready made plain pot holders can be found very cheap...then it can be the filler with your work shown on the outside.

Please, please remember to "stuff" your potholders with Insul-Bright or Warm and Natural Cotton or 2 layers of something that will keep the heat from penetrating the outer fabric. I received a well made potholder but it had one layer of thin polyester stuffing. It was useless as a potholder but a very nice color and well made. Using ready made plain pot holders to decorate is a great idea, @panda1957 I have received some of your potholders and love them.

Skippysmom, I know what you mean. With those making beautiful crocheted or knitted pot holders for me, they are only decorations. I tend to burn my hand(s) with the crochet or knitted. My quilting skill is very poor...I am ashamed to send them out so I did the alternative. I make a crocheted hot pad/pot holder from cotton yarn that is very thick & never have I been burned when using one of these (they have singe marks not me). So I'm going to give this swap a try. :)

@panda1957 don't give up on the pot holders. I just love them and so does my husband. He took the Easter towel you made and put it in the powder room because it was so pretty. @fabricsandflowers I've used the crocheted hot pads and not been burned either. It amazes me (since I can't crochet) how beautiful these hot pads can be. Some are too beautiful to use. I hope I am your partner. I'd love to get a crocheted hot pad from you. I only know how to embroider.

Ok....I won't give up @skippysmom even though I missed JUNE's. I will have to try that pattern @3stairs Maybe my problem is the yarns or I crochet to loose..... The one's I have recieved have been beautiful and I hate using them. Thanks to all my parents.

I found this pattern for crocheting potholders. They are double thick. Since I don't have a clue how to crochet, I thought maybe someone could use the pattern.
