Description:

Our family learns at home, but we know most do not. And so we want to encourage healthy choices and actions in small ways. One of these is this swap - Lunch Bunch Bags - USA Only.

To encourage wise food choices, beginning at home, we'll each SEW 3 sandwich/snack bags similar to those found in this tutorial: http://angrychicken.typepad.com/angry_chicken/2010/07/snack-bags-a-sewing-tutorial.html and send ONE bag each to THREE partners. A single bag will easily fold flat into a #10 envelope for regular first class postage. Bags do not need to be equal in sizze, but reasonable to hold a sandwich or snacks.

These are super-quick to sew and very inexpensive to make. I generally get four from a single fat quarter. Fat quarters and fat quarter packs can frequently be found in craft stores' clearance aisles.

Have fun with fabrics! This is a Sender's Choice, but looking at your swap partner's profile is always a kind idea. Working on the project in advance of the sign-up deadline may help you meet the deadline more easily as well.

If you are available to angel this swap, please message me with "Angel Lunch Bunch Swap" in the subject line. But there will be no flakers I am certain!

Newbies are welcome. We are all new once.

Enjoy!

Looks like fun! It'll give me a good reason to use my serger & I Love the idea of cloth snack bags. Last year I made a bunch from muslin & packed our lunch for the Renne Faire in them. So cool to pull my bread, cheese & fruit out of a cloth bag. I made napkins too. :)

I have a lil question. Um...I generally prewash fabrics before making cloths, but in this case, would you say new fabric should be prewashed, or washed & pressed after bags are made, or sent new (& unwashed)? Since they are meant to carry food?

Handy - I have done both.I use a cotton broadcloth most of the time and there is a bit of shrinkage/puckering, but it's kind of helpful as it creates a faux gusset... Your choice!
