Description:
This is a swap for all the people out there who collect Japanese things or are just interested in Japan. You do not have to be completely Japan-crazy to join, but it helps if you really like Japanese items, of course. :) You will have one partner to whom you will send a package of Japanese things, value around 5-7 dollars before postage. You may also and are encouraged to send things that do not cost so much money (for example stamps, magazine cut-outs, your handwritten Japanese food recipes). Not everything valuable has to cost a lot! :) This is an international swap so be prepared to spend a little on the postage, however. You MUST send at least 5 different type of small items. Sender's choice. (The first swap had 4 items.) EXAMPLES: Postcards Maps of cities, towns or tourist attractions Tourist brochures Cut-outs of Japanese magazines Eating sticks Small soy sauce cups / bowls / plates Kawaii stickers, stationery or memo papers (must be Japanese!) Stamps Bento decoration materials, bento boxes Sushi kits (for example wasabi sauce, nori, pickled ginger etc.) Food recipes Instant miso soup powder Tea (must be Japanese manufacturer) Train tickets Small Japanese items and trinkets such as lucky cats or bookmarks Origami papers Small cook books Japanese music (be it traditional or rock or pop...) Something related to Japanese art or history Plushies Remember that this is a sender's choice swap. THE MOST IMPORTANT RULES ARE: Only send things you would like to receive and have a lot of fun!! REMEMBER: This is an international swap, you might have to wait for your package a few weeks more than you would if you swapped regionally. Please allow at least a month for the package to be delivered. You may not rate 3 or 1 if the swap meets requirements and was sent in time. Always include a small message to your package stating the swap-name and your screen-name. This way your partner will be able to rate you easily. No recent or unexplained 1s are allowed. Contact me before joining if you have any 1s. Newbies with just a few ratings are welcome, but you MUST have a rating for a type 2 or 3 swap. Arigatou! Happy swapping!

Would you consider pushing the dates out a bit? Many packages from #1 are still unsent. I've been rated and won't join this one until I receive a package from #1.

Thank you for pointing that out, @manders2280 I did not think of that! I will indeed push the dates, perhaps it is safer that way.

Where can you buy Japanese items?

Dinja, you're from the Netherlands? I only know shops from the Amsterdam area, but I can PM you them a bit later (have to get the addresses first). And then you can for example write down your favourite Japanese recipes or buy sushi/J-food kits from supermarkets (sometimes you find really good ingredients in the big supermarkets...nori or instant miso or wasabi paste, for example). I have even seen nice sushi rolling mats and eating stick in the supermarkets. Or if you have any kawaii items at hand... Or if you've been to Japan. Also, bookstores sometimes have very nice Japanese postcards... There are many opportunities!

I, for example, am going to send items I received from Japanese people but I didn't quite like them (items, not people :P)/do not need. They are new (I was written so, at least, and they look fine) so I believe they are going to be liked by my partner. I do not have opportunity to buy Japanese items in Poland. Is that ok?

Aleksis, that is perfectly fine! :) The idea of this swap is to pass on all kinds of nice Japanese things, they do not have to be expensive or store-bought, as long as they are in good condition.

Is it ok if the manufacturer is not in Japan? Except for the tea of course. There are times when I spot a really nice japanese themed item which I would like to include but it is not Made in Japan.

@sgheartswaps Yes, it is okay. For example I sent in the first swap a calendar that was printed in France, but had pictures of traditional ukiyo-e's in it. And I received a Geisha nailpolisher that was manufactured in Germany, if I remember correctly. :) It is nice to go for something that is actually made in Japan, but it is not always possible, of course! :)
