About Me

I'm so glad to be back on swap-bot. I have several health conditions that I have been struggling with for several months. It's taken some time for me to get back on my feet. But I'm here now. Thank you for understanding.

I am a transplanted Brit living in the US for more years than I can remember. Though I have been back and forth across the Atlantic a few times. I am 65 years old. I love art, music & nature. I have been creating since my childhood and have never stopped. I took care of my mother until she passed away last year at the grand old age of 98! I have three adult children & four grandchildren. I live with 2 cats—Molly 10 years old she's a torbie and Bella 4 years old who is a tabby. They both love bouncy balls, crinkle toys, balls that have bells in them or make a noise. As for treats, they like fishy treats. I love being close to nature. It is soothing and calming in my often hectic life.

FAVORITE MUSIC

My favorite music is The Beatles, Enya, Secret Garden, Celtic, Phil Collins & movie soundtracks. My tastes in music are rather eclectic.

FAVORITE BOOKS

Some of my favorite books are Pride and Prejudice, the occasional Star Wars novel. I often enjoy non-fiction. The Hiding Place & Gift from the Sea are two of my favorites. I do not read romance novels.

FAVORITE MOVIES

There are so many movies that I have really enjoyed--Chariots of Fire, anything Pixar, Pride & Prejudice, Winged Migration. I enjoy Disney movies too.

TELEVISION SHOWS

I don’t really watch many major network series. I have found that I really enjoy Korean dramas & comedies on Netflix. My favorite K-dramas are Crash Landing On You, Crazy Love, Hospital Playlist and Vincenzo.

FAVORITE COLORS

I have loved colors since I was child. I remember loving the vivid colors of stained glass windows. I still love stained glass. My favorite colors are red, purple, blue, green. I don't like neon colors.

FAVORITE ARTISTS I do love Van Gogh. The first time I saw one of his paintings I was enchanted with his rich, vivid colors and thick brush strokes. I also love Monet's water lily paintings and his garden at Giverny. Leonardo. Da Vinci is another favorite. He was a genius. Japanese woodblock prints are absolutely beautiful.

THINGS I LOVE

In no particular order: Tea: peach, raspberry & hibiscus, lemon; nature related items, the Lake District of England, sea shells, England, Scotland, Wales, Italy, Switzerland, China, London, Venice, Paris. I would love to travel the world! I love to receive something that is unique to your country. I also love mountains, bullet journals, journaling, washi tape--please no neon colors, vintage airmail or postage, maps, red dragons, dragonflies, postcards, sea glass, sea pottery, glass beads, old things, vintage photographs, masks, things that are made of wood, foreign newspapers, vintage postcards, foreign postage stamps, favorite birds- sparrows, owls, penguins, puffins, European robins, favorite animals-hedgehogs, foxes, wolves, cats, tigers, pangolins, elephants, orcas (killer whales), photographs of stone statues, photographs of large old trees, ancient forests, handmade things, old travel posters. I love flowers and botanicals. I know that is a long list, but hopefully it will give you some ideas about me. Thank you.

THINGS I DON'T LIKE

Please don't send me any feathers-I'm allergic to them or strongly scented items-I'm sensitive to their aroma. I'm also really sensitive to cigarette smoke, no offense meant to the smokers out there. :0) I would prefer not to receive gothic, darkness, things that come in premade craft kits-it doesn't allow you to expand your own creativity, anything cutesy, celebrity related things, or liqueur filled chocolates.

Comment: Your traditions sound lovely! I also like to keep my tree up through the 12 days of Christmas. So many take them down the next day. These Bible studies will help me keep my eyes on Christ this advent season.
Response: I'm so pleased that I can participate in these Bible studies for the same reason to keep my focus on Jesus Christ. I really enjoy this wonderful Advent season. Thank you!

Comment: Thank you for your beautifully written letter. However teen stickers for an old lady? I have no teens in my life who might like them.
Response: I'm sorry. I did not know that you are elderly. I'm also a senior. I didn't think the stickers are teenagers, just younger women. But I still love those stickers. I often use them to decorate envelopes for swapbot swaps. Maybe you could pass them on in a future swap? Thank you for letting me know. Have a lovely day!

Comment: Hi Stella! What a great & fun swap for this! I'm a big time ice cream lover! Especially for Toasted Coconut ice cream. Which I can only find at this ice cream parlor called MRJ's. As it's not distributed to grocery stores. So, I have to wait nearly a year to the next summer to have it again, ugh! Anyway, TYSM for sharing your favorite ice cream Italian Gelato ( which I also love too) and your other fabulous answers. Oh, Lucky you, getting to live in Italy! I envy you! 😄 I have always wanted to visit Italy. But that would never happen now. Anyhow, Like you, For us here ice cream also a treat. We don't eat every day. Just when it's so hot we do. Well, I need to get along. I enjoyed reading your answers. What fun!
Response: Hi Debbie! I'm so glad you enjoyed this swap. I thought it was fun too. That toasted coconut ice cream sounds delicious! Lucky you for having it close by. We don't have anything like that here. I need ice cream today it's going to be so hot 101 degrees! Phew! it will be sweltering. Thank you for your lovely response. Enjoy your ice cream!

Comment: Thanks for thoughtful note -- I don't do zentangles -- mostly because I ALWAYS have things to read that seem more important than coloring and such... my choice: I'm addicted to reading all sorts of things.
Response: I'm glad you liked the note. I love to read too. Right now, I have a stack of books that I am currently reading and working my way through. There never seems to be enough time. Have a lovely day.

Comment: Thank you for your answers. I really enjoyed reading about your adventures. The map/washi tape is cute. I received a Jeju Island postcard from a girl in South Korea. I love the horse lighthouses on Iho Tewoo Beach. Love Land also looks quite interesting. You are correct about Channel Tunnel and hovercrafts no longer in operation. That and the fact they are noisy, cost more than a boat or ship to maintain, and are fairly tricky to pilot.
Response: You're absolutely right about piloting a hovercraft. It was quite marvelous to see them in the distance and then come up the concrete ramp and deflate. I know that's a long sentence! Yes, they were noisy. But what a ride! I really enjoyed this swap too. Thank you for the heart. :^)
