I love good mail, and I always have! I was in the Army, but that was years ago. Now I'm living the high life in Reno (get it? High life? Sierra? oh well...), working as an office manager. I have three cats, a love of tarot, divination, and gardening (flowers, not veggies). I like to read (cozy mysteries are my current faves), I'm a magazine-aholic, and I drink lots of chamomile tea (no wonder I'm so calm!).
I love Susan Branch, Mary Engelbreit, French Kitty, Chococat, Maneki Neko and scotties. For scents, vanilla, spice, and citrus-smelling items are my favorites. I love tarot cards and other types of divination. I love cats. And reading. And BPAL!!! I'm rediscovering fairies. I would love guided meditation CDs (okay if burned copies!). I love magazines: girlie, home, different (Bella Grace, Mantra Wellness, B*tch, Bust), mystery (Ellery Queen, Alfred Hitchcock), and British mags. Starbucks cards are always appreciated! I guess you could say I'm a girly girl...love pink.
Favorite colors are the combo of pink and black together, yellow and gray together, pink and brown together, turquoise and brown together. I don't wear silver jewelry, but love gold and copper. I like autumn colors, but my office is with tropical colors (purple, turquoise, yellow, white).
I HATE GLITTER. Seriously...glitter and I don't get along. Glitter is the litter of the art world...it gets on everything, you can never get rid of it, and it lingers until the end of time.
Some of my favorite things include:
GLITTER. I think I mentioned that already, but it's always worth mentioning again! ;-)
Photo albums and frames I don't post pictures around the house or at my desk.
Most things made in China Seriously. Their products have killed cats and dogs and children. Why do we continue to trade with China? I realize that I can't stay away from all things China - but for sure stay away from items my food might touch, that go into my mouth, or on my face/body are items I will not use.
Memo sheets For the most part I prefer the whole pad or nothing at all. I've gotten to the point where I just throw loose memo sheets away, so it's not worth your time or money to send them to me.
Hot Drinks I would prefer not to receive any hot drinks (teas, hot chocolate, etc.). I am not really a hot drink kind of gal - and I especially don't drink hot chocolate, because I don't drink milk.
Earrings, bracelets, rings
Christmas ornaments I do not set up a tree.
Postcards I do not participate in postcard swaps anymore. Exception: I enjoy receiving blank/unused Mary Engelbreit and kitty postcards, especially Grumpy Cat.
White chocolate This is like Fake News - a lot of hype, and no substance! :)
Cosmetics/Lip Balms/Lotions I get all I need through the beauty box subs to which I subscribe!
Regarding "Don't Open Till Christmas" type swaps - I am rating 5s once received, and will add hearts and additional comments after opening.
I don't think of myself as a crafty person, but I do engage in light papercrafting for pocket letters (my new favorite thing to do) and I have also started to make my own small envelopes (microlopes).
I was attempting to learn how to knit... that didn't go well, but I don't think I've given up entirely yet. I recently bought a crochet needle, and I hope to learn how to make dishcloths. We'll see...
The one thing I like to do, but is really expensive to send, is making altered candles. I use the glass pillar candles that can be found in the "religious" section of the grocery store, and I decoupage them, add embellishments, etc. I like to make spell candles out of them, or "just for fun" candles - this Christmas I made myself a holiday candle using fabric, a vintage image of a cat hanging up an ornament, some fancy yarn, and a jingle bell.
I had a lot of fun with altered clothespins as well - this crafting thing is addicting!
If anyone is interested in a one-on-one, I have some stuff - US only:
Lots of cosmetics, brand new, received from Ipsy and Birchbox. Let me know what you are interested in (eye make up, etc.). I have a ton of stuff I would love to get rid of it all.
Also have some tarot decks I wouldn't mind swapping. If interested, let me know, and I'll tell you what I've got in my "going away" stack!
I know tea is popular in the swap world. Please refrain from sending it to me. Due to dietary restrictions and allergies, I am unable to consume most teas. Chamomile and rooibus work for me. Everything else seems to cause distress - and that includes chamomile tea doctored with any other type of flavoring, like citrus.
Please: no green tea, no black tea - caffeinated or otherwise. My system reacts wildly inappropriately to it!
Thank you!
