Hi I'm Laurie. I'm a GRIT! ( girl raised in the South). I'm a 42 y/o wife and mother. My only son is 17 years old. My husband and I have been together 25 years. we have two dogs. I am retired from 20 years of nursing, but not by choice. I am unable to work because of degenerative bone disease. I lost my Grandmother back in September. In my life I have worked as a hairdresser, medical transcriptionist, licensed practical nurse and registered nurse. I grew up around people who sew. My mother worked as a factory seamstress making jeans and retired as a construction seamstress for the Air Force base. My Grandfather owned a car upholstery business for nearly 50 years! I never grew a love for sewing until 2004. I bought my first sewing machine in 2007. I still have the sewing machine my Mama gave me that I learned to sew with. I love my friends and family. I love giving. I enjoy meeting new people. I have been playing piano for 4 months. My secret fantasy has always been to be an Oscar winning actress ;-)

I love Eagles, roosters, owls, lighthouses. candles. I'm a big refrigerator magnet collector!

I love most all music, especially 80s tunes, country and pop. I don't listen to rap. I love the original Journey, Lady Gaga, Adele, Miranda Lambert, and James Durbin......to name a few for you :-D

I never met a book I did not Ike. My last two books were The Help (paperback) and an All People Quilt Hardcover quilting book. I collect and love cookbooks too.

Cold Mountain is my all-time favorite movie! Lonesome Dove, Urban Cowboy, Coal Miners Daughter, Sweet Dreams, Titanic, Scarface.....

I don't watch a lot of television, but when I do here are my favs: the voice, American idol, the first 48, Judge Judy, Friends, Reba, HSN, Pawn Stars, Storage Wars.....

I love blogs and sewing tutorials. I love to cook and bake, but I like EASY yet delicious recipes. I'm have my own YouTube channel and recently started adding cooking tutorials. I will be adding sewing videos as well. I'd like to teach people how to sew!

Favorite crafts: sewing, quilting, crafts, crochet. ***** I am NOT Into card making (except fabric postcards!)...or scrap booking.

I would LOVE TO LEARN how to make SOAP.
