I live in a beautiful rainforest situated between two active volcanoes on the Big Island of Hawai'i. I study military history at a university. I really enjoy learning about the history and culture of places all over the world, and I plan to travel a lot when I'm done with my studies. When I'm not studying, I like to hang out with my dog (I think of him as my son and no I don't think that's weird), watch movies, listen to music, read, daydream, and learn about anything and everything. I also recently joined Postcrossing, which got me more interested in snailmail activities. I hope that Swap-bot will be an opportunity to learn about all kinds of places around the world.

I enjoy watching horror, foreign, and documentaries the most. I love watching movies, so it's hard to pick favorites. But here are the first ones that come to mind: May, La Haine, The Island (Ostrov), Smoke Signals, Mongol: The Rise of Genghis Khan, Restrepo, Heavy Metal in Baghdad, Valhalla Rising, Jaws, The Burbs

Oh boy! Music is life, so it would take forever to list all my favorite musicians. I tend to listen to heavier music, music that was popular during my childhood, country, and songs with lyrics in languages I don't understand (especially folk and modern hits). Although they don't necessarily represent my general musical tastes, here are a few that would show up on the soundtrack to my life because they were there at important moments: Siouxsie and the Banshees, Depeche Mode, Rage Against the Machine, Bad Religion, Harry Connick Jr

I don't really watch regular television anymore. Instead, I watch shows that are available streaming or on DVD. These are some that I have enjoyed the most: Vikings, Homeland, Game of Thrones, Marco Polo, The Americans, Crossing Lines, Lillyhammer, The Walking Dead, Ghost Adventures, Parks and Recreation, New Girl, Bones, Sons of Anarchy, My So-Called Life, RuPaul's Drag Race, Charmed, Reno 911, Sopranos, X-Files

I will read just about anything related to history and anything that will teach me about other places and cultures. The first favorite book that comes to mind is Out Stealing Horses by Per Petterson.

I wouldn't consider myself a crafty person, but I'm challenging myself to become one. I've done a little bit of scrapbooking, jewelry making, and embroidery. I hope that participating in Swap-bot will push me to do more. I'm particularly interested in ATCs and Inchies and would like to start swapping those some day.

I prefer to receive cards written and stamped.

For me, the most important thing is that the card's subject is relevant to your country. It would be even better if it shows something from your town, state, or region. However, if you think there is something particularly interesting, amazing, or beautiful on the other side of the country, that's good, too.

Generally, I like views of your town, a place or person of historical or cultural significance to your country, spooky or dark atmosphere, and breathtaking views of nature.
