About Me

I'm a 27 year old psychology graduate and art student who would like to be an art therapist or art tutor. :) I last used Swap-bot many years ago and had to stop doing swaps for a while due to ill health but I'm back for more!

I work in a drugstore part-time and am also a burlesque performer and do some pin-up/alternative modelling.

I live near Glasgow in Scotland, but I'm half Norwegian and go there to visit quite a lot.

Hobbies include baking, ebay, collecting vintage treasures (all eras but I particularly love the 20s, 50s and 60s) shopping in charity shops and thriftstores, photography, feminism, playing video games, going to the cinema, being tattooed, reading (so much I do the 50 Book Challenge every year!) and going to gigs, burlesque/cabaret shows and the theatre or ballet.

I like piercings (have labret and various ear ones just now) and Old skool and trad style tattoos eg. Sailor Jerry and Angelique Houtkamp. I have a pair of Sailor Jerry swallows on my calves and a crow on my shoulder blade. :)

Favorite Music

I listen to hardcore punk, death/doom/black metal, psychobilly, rockabilly, big band and old tunes for burlesque bumping and grinding. I have a soft spot for easy listening, lounge and exotica especially Capitol Records Ultra Lounge collection of CDs.

Favourite bands/artists: Rob Zombie, Type O Negative, Burzum, Darkthrone, Judas Priest, Sleater-Kinney, L7, Jarboe, Neurosis, Black Flag, The Misfits, Nachtmystium, Ulver, Murder City Devils, wolves in the throne room, Agalloch, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Yma Sumac, Harry Belafonte, Les Baxter, Kraftwerk, Grendel, Motorhead, The Puppini Sisters, Richard Cheese, Destroyer 666, WASP, Nina Simone, Julie London, The Andrews Sisters, Billie Holliday, Lifelover, Dethklok, Kylesa, Electric Wizard, The Cramps.

Favorite Books

I love to read pretty much everything except chick lit. I love Angela Carter, Douglas Coupland, Donna Tartt, Neil Gaiman, Chuck Palahniuk, Bukowski, Cormac McCarthy, George RR Martin. I enjoy factual books about feminism and sociology/psychology/self help. I always buy art books, pretty coffee table books, craft how-to books and collect Taschen books especially the Icons series. I love books about bygone times, especially the 40s-60s, mid-century modernism, furniture, fashion or collectables.

Magazine wise I read Look, Elle, Vogue, Bust, Juxtapoz, Terrorizer, Metal Hammer, Total Tattoo, Vintage Life and Milkcow. Tattoo, art or craft mags are always welcome!

Favorite Movies

I like zombies and horror, favourites being Romero's Dawn of the Dead, Planet Terror, Hammer Horror series and Universal monsters series. I also love Spirited Away, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, No Country For Old Men, Juno, Ghost World, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Chicago, Sunshine, The Notorious Bettie Page, Some Like It Hot, All About Eve, Empire Records, The Skin I Live In, The Artist, Marie Antoinette, Cry-Baby, Hairspray, Pan's Labyrinth, Black Swan, Wayne's World.

I love old movies, classics and kitschy B-movies so please feel free to send me any you think I'll like if you want to send dvds.

Favorite Television

Mad Men, True Blood, Game of Thrones, Family Guy, The Simpsons, South Park, Spendaholics, How Clean is Your House, CSI, Heroes, America's Next Top Model, Project Catwalk (and Runway) Red Dwarf, Peep Show, Black Books, Futurama. Documentaries, makeover shows like 10 Years Younger and How to Look Good Naked, Hoarders and Hoarding: Buried Alive.

Favorite Crafts

Sketching, painting, printing, stamping, paper-making, collage, photography, felt crafts, jewellery making, screenprinting, decoupage... most things! I am a beginner at knitting and crochet. I'll pretty much try any craft and always need art materials for my sketchbook projects and art classes.

Comment: Thank you soooo much for the paints :) Very thoughtful and I will enjoy playing with them. Best of luck with your studies and I wholeheartedly recommend living in another country. I hear that Norwegian is easier to learn than Danish so studying in Norwegian should be a challenge but very possible. Mange tak :) Kelly
Response: Aww you're so very welcome! :)
