About Me

Hello Swap-Bot member!

Welcome to my profile, version 5.0. I am forever updating my profile, never satisfied, always wanting to describe the most recent version of myself.

I'm still a French Canadian woman in her thirties, though I am now approaching my mid-thirties. I'm still a full time teacher, but am now the mother of a preschooler and a newborn baby (both girls!).

I have been swapping for many years, mainly on Facebook, but also on Swap-Bot occasionally. I just love preparing something for someone I don't know and knowing it will brighten their day. Even if a swap is sender's choice, I often take a look at my partner's profile to make sure I don't send something they don't like. I can't always accommodate, but I try as much as possible.

I still take my swaps very seriously. I always send on time and I'll actually go out of my way to make sure that my swap is mailed by deadline. Should I have to be late (because it's happened a few times), I make sure that I send a message to my partner and to the host to inform them I sent a little late. For all these reasons, that's why I would prefer you contact me first and offer me a chance to resend my swap before rating me a 1.

For my likes and dislikes, see the sections below.

Happy swapping!

Favorite Books

I love reading and participate in a lot of book log swaps on here. My favorite genre are thrillers, chick lit, mystery novels, historical fiction, and contemporary fiction. But basically, if it catches and holds my attention, I will read it.

I read in both French and English.

I'm a Harry Potter fan! My house is Hufflepuff, but I sometimes get sorted in Ravenclaw.

Favorite Television

I watch a lot of French Canadian TV shows, mainly games shows and cooking shows. If I watch a series, it will be most likely American.

Some of my favorite TV shows are The Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, Friends, Superstore, Scrubs, Castle, Bones, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

I also like watching home renovation shows and makeover shows.

Favorite Crafts

I love paper crafting! Pocket letters (full and mini) and ATCs are my go-to crafts. I also do the occasional flipbooks when I have enough free time.

I also like cross stitching, I dabble in adult coloring, and I'm hoping to find some time in 2021 to get start on diamond painting. It looks like a lot of fun!

Swaps - Likes

Looking for inspiration on what to send me? Here are things I would love to receive:

  • Touristic postcards from your country or area
  • Magnets (touristic)
  • Embellishments/die cuts for paper crafting
  • Blank notecards (with envelope)
  • Anything Harry Potter (especially Hufflepuff, my House)

Here are other things I like to receive but have enough of at the moment (however, I won't say no to them if you decide to send lol):

  • Sticker sheets
  • Washi tape
  • Bookmarks
  • Small journals
  • Handmade envelopes

Swaps - Dislikes

I'm usually not picky when it comes to swaps, but here are things I would prefer not to receive:

  • No tea please. I prefer to buy my own tea bags.
  • Nothing violent (against ANY living creature)
  • Nothing religious. I don't follow any religion.
  • Nothing erotic/nude.
  • Nothing related to politics
  • Nothing vintage. I'm just not fond of those things.
  • Nothing I need to color. Sorry, just got too many of these things at home!

Stickers & Washi

I thought these deserved a section of their own. My wishes are just that... wishes. No obligation to send!

Stickers (likes): dolphins, butterflies, owls, and frogs

Stickers (dislikes): Disney, religious, children stickers (ie Paw Patrol, Spiderman, etc.), planner stickers

Washi samples: LOVE all kinds, but right now I am looking for themed samples (ie books, dolphins, butterflies, etc.).

Facebook Groups

On top of swapping here on Swap-Bot, I also admin a few Facebook penpalling groups. Come take a look and join if you are interested!

You can find the links at the top of my profile!

The Canadian Snail Mail Café - A pen pal group for Canadian residents. We also have weekly wishes, tags, and giveaways!

Penpals Across the World (Ladies Only 18+) - A safe Facebook group for women to find penpals worldwide. What makes us different is that we only accept members who are looking for penpals anywhere. Country specific posts (like UK only, or Canada only) are not accepted.

Bookworm Penpals - This group is still rather small, but it has started to grow. It is a penpal group for women who also LOVE to read! Join us and share your passion of reading with other members!

Ratings

Updated May 31, 2023

Please note that I am behind on all my ratings! I went through a difficult period and am just starting to get back to myself. I will rate by the end of June. All swaps received are in the same drawer, waiting to be opened! Thank you for understanding!

I feel like this deserves a spot in my profile because it seems like I don't rate the way people would like me to rate.

For type 2s and type 3s: I rate within a few days of receiving a swap. Sometimes it will take me longer, depending on life events, but I will always rate you. I keep my swaps together, in an accordion file, until I can get to them, so I don't lose them.

For type 1s: More often than not, I wait until the mailing deadline has passed to rate. I rate in bulk, meaning I will give my ratings once I have received everything or if the mailing deadline has already passed.

I have two young kids, I have other obligations, I'm not always online, and I don't always have time to sit down at the computer and do my ratings. I connect to Swap-Bot multiple times a week, but mainly to check on mailing deadlines to make sure I don't miss them. I do promise to rate and rate fairly, though. Just give me some time to get to it!

Comment: Thanks for sharing. I also do not like cooking… well at least at home. My daughters who are old enough to cook expect me to all the cooking. I enjoy cooking with my boyfriend. I thought about going back to dinosaur time period but didn’t add it.
