Hello! My name is Maeve, I'm 18 years old and I'm just getting in to the snail mail community! I was initially drawn to the idea of snail mail swaps because I happened to find some letters that my mom had kept from her friends and family in 80s and 90s. I love they way those letters are a now a bit of a time capsule and a piece of the past, and I want to engage in the magical world of real mail the way people did back then. I am going off to college this fall, so while I still have time I want to have fun and be creative in this way!

More generally about me: I have one doggo named Biscuit Cuteness who is my pride and joy. He's some kind of a boxer mix that my family found while we were out staying at a friends cabin one time, he now spends his time napping in a sunny window or making blanket nests on my bed.

I love baking and cooking and I just recently gotten very in to pickling (It's Alive with Brad Leone is single handedly responsible for my new obsession!) Since I've had so much time to experiment in the kitchen lately, I feel like I might actually be getting to be quite a good chef, so I would love to try my hand at some new recipes if anyone's got some!

I love listening to lots of different kinds of music, some of my favorite artists are: The 1975, Panic! At the Disco, EXO, Siouxsie & The Banshees, Troye Sivan, The Beatles, MAMAMOO, David Bowie, Marina and the Diamonds, The Cure, The Clash, Kate Bush, Harry Styles, Beyonce, Two Door Cinema Club, Thornapple, R.E.M and MANY more, but I've already listed too many :-P

Choosing a favorite book is the hardest thing ever! I love classics like Pride and Prejudice, Mrs. Dalloway, Tender is the Night, Catcher in the Rye, and the book I have reread the most times in my life: The Bell Jar. However, I also love contemporary fiction! Basically anything by Barbara Kingsolver, Michael Chabon, or Ian McEwan is a fav of mine. God of Small Things, The Brief and Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, and Your Heart is a Muscle the Size of Fist are another few of my top novels. Lastly (because I feel like I'm way oversharing), I of course love the magical and fantasy classics of the world like Harry Potter, LOTR, Inkheart series, and The Borrowers.

I LOVE Studio Ghibli movies!! My personal favorite is The Wind Rises, but seriously every single one of those movies is a fantastic watching experience. Other than that I like Disney movies (Mulan is perhaps the best movie of all time), cheesey 2000 rom-coms, and documentaries of all sorts.

I am a bullet journal-er, which takes up a lot of my crafting energy. Besides that I have been trained in fine arts for a really long time, so I love oil painting and figure drawing (I'm a big anatomy nerd) as well as print making which is one of my favorite things to do. I also love sewing and embroidering and I have a big love for fashion so I love to design and create my own clothes.
