About Me

I used to swap here under a different name (alicepalace), but I left and deleted my account for a variety of reasons. Not because I had a poor rating; I did not. It was 4.9something, if you're interested!

Please note: The address I have given is to be used for swap purposes only. Please do not pass my address on to any third party. Thank-you.

Favorite Crafts

I'm a fickle crafter.

I crochet - recent projects included amigurumi, little purses and many many berets - and I'm enjoying learning new stitches at the moment. Trying to design a pattern in herringbone hdc at the mo. I am also part-way through a bi-colour Babette blanket, and have been for some months now. Big projects aren't really for me, it seems! :)

I bought myself a Print Gocco just before they stopped being manufactured, and though I'm still learning, I really enjoy making prints on it. I've just started attending a printmaking evening class and I'm excited to learn new things.

I enjoy sewing. I still haven't got the guts up to make a garment, though I have got as far as buying a few patterns! I've mostly sewn bags and other small things. I'd like to get more confident with the sewing machine.

I've recently started to learn fine silver jewellery making. I am enjoying it SO MUCH. I love it. I just need some more free time (don't we all?) so I can get good.

And I generally like hoarding craft supplies and gluing stuff together!

Things I like

General likes:

  • deep and bright colours;
  • metallics;
  • weird stuff
  • old-lady-style or mod florals;
  • wool;
  • gardenias;
  • stationery;
  • small-but-special things;
  • the 1970s (I wasn't alive for any of that decade, but I like the style. I know some people think it's the decade that taste forgot, but good taste is in the eye of the beholder!);
  • tulips;
  • colourful nail polish;
  • British comedy;
  • PITT artist pens;
  • buttons;
  • pincushions;
  • genuine bargains;
  • kittehs;
  • wool felt;
  • natural scents - citrus fruit, apple, rose, jasmine, gardenia, mint..

and so on

Things I do not like

I do not like:

  • earrings for pierced ears, because I do not have pierced ears! :)
  • incense/ room fragrance/ scented candles [I actually do like scented candles, but my partner hates them and we live together, so.];
  • pastel colours;
  • little-girly, princessy type stuff, or an excess of in-yer-face pinkness;
  • liquorice and aniseed;
  • very obviously fake, musky, or sickly-sweet scents
  • spiders.

That's about it. :)

Comment: Beautiful stamps. Thank you much. I am going to show them to my nieces. I just taught them how to carve their own stamps and we are on way to the store to buy them their own supplies. They will be happy to see more samples :) Thank you again. Hugs, Linda

Comment: I'm sorry to have to rate you a 3, however, due to the fact that it was sent very late, I have to rate fairly. You did contact me after the send by date to state you would be sending the next day, but you didn't even send then. I do like the ami you sent...it is very interesting and different and well made. If you had sent on time I would definitely be rating a 5.
Response: I'm glad you like the ami. Again, sorry it was so late; I'm not contesting the rating, it's fair on grounds of lateness. :)

Comment: Thank you for the flowers - the small, blue silky one is my favourite. I too found that silky fabrics work very well. I got hooked on making them!

Comment: Thank you so much for my super awesome package. I was having a pretty crappy day at work yesterday and I checked my post about an hour before I went home. If I hadn't got your lovely face-cloth, soap and card then, I'm sure I would've spent the evening in a bad mood. So thank you both for the generous package AND for making sure I enjoyed my evvening!

Are you the only other person, besides me that doesn't have pierced ears? I was beginning to think I was all alone. Lol.

I was alive during the 70's, ( and the 60's, oh so old) and you are right it was a fun decade, great colours, easy fashions and outspoken views.

Best wishes on your sewing ventures, if you can sew a bag you can make anything else. Bags are difficult.

Greeting from Kay in New Zealand.

Hi! I see that you like matchboxes so I wanted to invite you to join my new group matchbox & more. It's mostly about matchboxes of various kinds but there are some other kinds of swaps (such as whimsy jars & lucky parcels). I hope you'll come be a part of the fun! Thanks!

Snap re. the GCSE art thing - I couldn't believe how easy it was to cut the softcut lino after the stress I remember at school! Do you think they've switched to the softer stuff, in these modern times? ;-)
