About Me

I love cats and I love spinning fibre. Funnily enough the dutch word for catpurring is the same as for spinning so there, I'm just following the hints the universe is giving me ;)

I feel especially close to the European pre-celtic fairytale figure Frau Holle. She's all about spinning and nature and working together to get results. Without being a sentimental sap.

Both cats and spinning are relaxing and hilariously funny at times. They help me healing from ME/CFS. I also like weird teacups (the wonky handmade kind) and little metal spoons.

I adore colour, especially bold ones. I like natural materials such as wool, silk, wood, mother of pearl etc.

Favorite Books

  • Pippi Longstocking,
  • Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy
  • The Elegance of the Hedgehog.
  • Tender Mosels
  • illustrated childrenbooks
  • the old fairy tales
  • books with ridiculously enlarged photo's of bacteria and cells and small thingies living in the sea. If only I could have an atomic microscope myself...

Favorite Crafts

spinning, knitting, felting, wool dyeing, sewing, embroidery, drawing.

Favorite Movies

  • Amelie
  • Trois Couleurs: Bleu
  • Iceage
  • Those real life backyard-safari-movies. You know, where ladybugs are as big as cars and we follow this one bug trying to get a lump of dung to its layer but it is stuck on a thorn in the ground and keeps spinning on it no matter how much he pushes it.

Favorite Colors

  • bold orange
  • saturated yellow
  • green
  • purple, all prpls!
  • No neons or pastels for me please, thanks.

Handmades

I like natural, renewable materials such as wool, wood, glass, seashell, bamboo, paper, silk. I am a fool for tiny handmade pincushions and tiny shiny handmade x-mas-tree ornaments. Actually anything tiny and shiny! Handmades are a way of spreading love in the world, I feel.

I really do my best to make you something special. Hope it shows :)

PLEASE Do NOT send me

  • plastic
  • perfumed items
  • food or drinkstuff (special diet)
  • when it comes to wool/fiber I do not work with acrylics, cotton or superwash.

More about me

I am 40 yo, married, live on a little homestead in the woods, eat a ketogenic diet and am healing from ME/CFS/Adrenal Fatigue/hormonal imbalance. I have a mastersdegree in science and was trained as an artist and for the life of me, I cannot choose what pleases me more: the delight of experiencing beauty or the accomplishment of understanding a principle. Spinning and cats meet both sides of this spectrum.

I like handspun artyarns! :) funny batts and funky yarns are very welcome in this little house! :D

my knittingadventures are on ravelry but you can see some pics at http://www.flickr.com/photos/snorrepot/

Comment: Thanks for the lovely letter about your garden and hobbies! It is so nice that you know what is growing on your property. I recognized some of the plants names that you mentioned, but not all of them. I am in the local garden club, so I do know quite a bit about gardening and plants. I love the story about the squirrel and the hazelnuts. Yes, I am sure the gnome had quite a laugh too :-) Thanks also for the pics and the postcard of the lamb!

Comment: Thank you very much! The box should have arrived on Saturday, but the gal delivering didn't bother to bring it up to the house and left a notice in the mailbox, instead. The nerve! I love the green blends! The bag is perfect for my sock projects. And the toad is the best! Love it all!

Welcome to Swap-Bot! Since you are interested in the old days, you might like to read the novels of one of my favorite authors, Sandra Dallas. Alice's Tulips is a good choice.
