Quilting and Sewing

I can always use any amount of 100% cotton fabric. All colors and patterns. Flannel is also nice to have.

Tried applique', but found out it wasn't 'my thing'. I know how to knit, but rather not do it. Same for crochet.

I retired in 2005, and to keep me from going crazy with idle time, I took a beginners quilting class at a local quilting shop. I have enjoyed learning all about the making of a quilt top and seeing the finished product. So many techniques to learn! Wish I had found the time many years ago to learn this craft. I'm always eager to join the next class and get down to business!

I like crossword puzzles, photo albums, small art deco picture frames, note cards, coffee, tea, candles, pens, stamps, journals, gardening items, old dishes, old tablecloths, bluebirds, rainbows, anything green, yard sales, and McCoy violet pots.

I don't like bananas, seafood, dogs, smoking, unruly kids, people with no sense of humor, earthquakes, snow that lasts longer than 3 hours, and tailgaters.

I like the oldies in all genre of music. (I don't think 'Rap' has oldies, so I'm safe in saying that) I can play the piano and organ, and in my high school band I played the clarinet. I'm trying to learn the dulcimer now, but I'd rather sing than play.

I like to read suspense novels and the best ones are those that I can't figure out until the end. I also like some romance, but I do NOT like Danielle Steele or Nora Roberts. I've been entranced with Diana Gabaldon's 'Outlander' series to the point I just have to visit Scotland before I get too much older. I've read all of Dean Koontz, Jonathan Kellerman, Suart Woods, James Patterson, Richard North Patterson and John Grisham novels. Some more than once.

I think my favorite movie is an old one with Walter Matthau, "A New Leaf". It is so funny, but has a great life lesson woven in. And I can't watch Phantom of the Opera and City of Angels enough times. Since we belong to Netflix, we don't purchase DVD's anymore and sold all we had at our yard sales.

I'm so hooked on Survivor, The Amazing Race, CSI, NCIS, House, The Mentalist, FOX News, HGTV, DYI, and Days of Our Lives. Also enjoy Pawn Stars, Storage Wars, American Pickers and the Hoarders Series.

My husband and I enjoy fishing and traveling/camping. We have three children, and 8 grandchildren. And one yellow tabbie cat, Catfish.
