Description:

For this swap you will have one partner, who will be receiving from you at least 3 bags or books as desribed below:

Friendship Book (aka FB): A small, homemade booklet (average 4-10 pages) where each swapper or penpal adds his/her information (name, address, hobbies and interests). After your information is added, you then mail the FB off to someone else. When the book is full, it is returned to the owner. A themed FB might ask that all signers be mothers, share a similar interest, or live in a certain area.

Deco Book (aka deco): This is very similar to an FB, but each person signing has a full page to themselves to decorate with stickers, stamps, magazine clippings, drawings/art, etc. This may be "free", where each person can decorate their page however they like, or themed, where everyone is expected to decorate their page in similar way, for example a Summer theme, or a princess theme.

Slam: Every participant signs in (usually on the front or back cover). The maker has added a question to each page, and each signer is expected to provide a short answer to that question. These may be themed as well, for example, all the questions may be about music, or they can be random questions.

Sticker Bag: Usually a small envelope where a certain number of stickers are removed from the stash (for example 5) and are then replaced with a set number of your own stickers (for example 10) before being passed along. This allows people to trade stickers, and the owner will receive an assortment of stickers when the Sticker Bag is returned to them. There are usually a limited number of participants to "sign in" on a Sticker Bag, for example, it is expected to be returned home after the 5th person signs it and adds their stickers.

You have to send a minimum of 3 items to your partner, and it is sender's choice. Just as an example, you can send 1 Slam and 2 Sticker Bags, OR 3 Decos, OR 1 FB, 1 Deco and 1 Slam, OR 1 of each (totalling 4 items).

**These should all be able to fit into a business sized envelope. You can mail them off in whatever you like (and it's okay if you need a bigger envelope due to the amount of bags/books you are sending), but individually, they must fit into a regular business sized envelope. If they can be folded without being damaged in order to fit, that's fine.

**The bags and books must be nice and neat. They DON'T have to be fancy or laminated, but they have to be of good quality and in good condition. No ripped up pages, no piece of scrap paper folded up and being called an "FB", nothing like that.

***Please do not send your partner more than one "homer" (a bag or book that will have to be returned to the maker/owner right after your partner signs it) unless you partner specifically mentions that they don't mind extra homers.

***Starters--brand new bags and books where your partner will be the first to participate--are fine. Sending your partner 3 Starters will still fulfill the requirements of the swap.

Be prepared to receive (and promptly pass along!) more than 3 books/bags. If you can't handle more than 3 from your partner--or, conversely, if you'd like to receive excess--please note this in the comments section!

You have well over a week to get these sent out once partners are assigned. Since this is senders choice, you can even start preparing your package now.

You must have a 4.8 or higher rating, and no recent 1s or 3s. If you have a question about your rating, please message me. Newbies are welcome, but all participants should understand the basics as far as what these bags/books are and how to pass them along. I can angel if necessary, but we're all adults here, so this shouldn't be an issue.

Happy Swapping!

I will happily accept--and quickly pass along--excess, and I especially love Decos and Sticker Bags. :)

Popsicle 06/14/2012 #

I accept any N/N or HQ excess. :)

rachelcdoyle 06/15/2012 #

i prefer slams or sticker bags only but I can take anything and keep it moving. :) I can also take excess including homers. I love getting homers! :)

8catlover 06/17/2012 #

MaterializeDaydreams 06/19/2012 #

Homers and excess welcome here.

maciemcgowan 06/19/2012 #

I can take excess! although slams aren't my favorite :)

Wenturner71 06/20/2012 #

I can take all excess except for LBs and X slips.

CraftyLass 06/20/2012 #

I can take anything & pass along quickly, BUT I'm getting bored with "greedy" bags - you know the ones I mean.... shoddily thrown together, started with 3 trashy bits, and a scrawled "take2, add 10".

Send me any types of bag or book, any amount. Can take a few homers.

kraftykj 06/20/2012 #

Would love excess and will quickly get them moved along as well!

Kraftylady777 06/20/2012 #

JemStone 06/20/2012 #

I can take excess of anything!

erikawithak 06/20/2012 #

I will take excess and some homers. I prefer sticker bags or decos, but will take anything. I also like stamp bags if anyone has those to pass along!

rachelcdoyle 06/23/2012 #

Assigning partners?

courtmm11 06/23/2012 #

I'm with you Rachel.... I love getting homers also..... I thought the whole idea of this somewhat is to get them back to the owners...no matter who made them... but everyone seems to want to stop the homers. I don't get it!

CraftyLass 06/23/2012 #

I don't think anyone wants to STOP homers, but I for one can't afford the extra postage to send home any more than a few at a time. For instance, I was recently sent 6 homers again in one mix bag swap of 13!! So far I have returned 2 of them home (@ a cost of £3.18) as they were for nonswopbotters, the other 4 are for regular botters so I figured it made sense to hold on to them for a week or so incase i'm paired up with any of them in current swaps. If not, i've worked out that I'd be spending another £5.34. I don't in any way resent sending them home (afterall, i know someone has to send mine home to me!!) but I can't afford to do them all at once. I have (as I'm sure a lot of people do) a certain amount budgetted to spend on swapping, and if i've already committed to a bunch of swaps that month, I simply can't justify an extra £10

rachelcdoyle 06/24/2012 #

Yeah @CraftyLass it can get expensive, the main reason I can keep swapping and don't mind homers is because I get a HUGE discount on shipping through my brother's company. I can send a flat rate USPS box for $4.50 when it's usually almost $11 USD.

I want my partner!! :D

rachelcdoyle 06/25/2012 #

Bummer.. people are dropping out :(

courtmm11 06/25/2012 #

I think they get everything ready, and then get tired of waiting... I had mine all ready also.... but still not assigned.... Did she really forget she had a swap to assign????

rachelcdoyle 06/25/2012 #

I messaged her but she hasn't been on. I'll stick it out a few more days if she changes the send date. I have so much excess to get rid of though, I might just have to set up a swap for it.

NurseKelly 06/26/2012 #

I apologize- I was in a car accident. I'm going to adjust the "send by" date in order to be fair to the members

courtmm11 06/26/2012 #

So sorry to hear about this, I am sure we all hope you were not seriously hurt.... Take care... Pat

rachelcdoyle 06/26/2012 #

OMG are you oK!!!??????
