my postmistress told me the cost to send a postcard overseas is the same as a letter, I sent one to England and I believe it was $1.05 . I know if I was going to pay that much to send a postcard, I would rather write a letter. I had a pen pal in Liverpool for many years, and we loved to send letters especially in our teenage years, Would you believe it cost 9 cents when we started writing back in 1951. We were 13 years old. ha ha Of course everything has gone up since then. I was shocked at the price to mail a postcard however, I will wait for swaps that are letters, might as well get our money's worth.

That's crazy, postcards from the USA are 32 cents. I can't imagine how it would've been $1.05. That is the current international letter rate for the USA.

She's right. Letters under an ounce and postcards going overseas are both the same price ($1.05) :(

I've never had that problem, I just put a postcard stamp on mine and they arrive fine.

To send a postcard insde the United States it is only 32 cents; however, to send a postcard outside the USA, it costs the same as sending a letter, which is $1.05. Consider it a stroke a luck if yours have arrived at their foreign destination on a 32 cent stamps. Obviously, it's more beneficial to send postcards inside an envelope (up top 5 if no letter is included weigh more or less one ounce), however, MANY members want their postcard sent directly thru the mail, so I'll suggest you check with your partner abt preferences. Once you establish some sort of pen-pal relationship, no doubt you can send whatever it is you both agree upon ... Good luck & have fun!

Also, be sure to write your address on the postcard. You have not, one, but TWO opportunities to find penpals: one with your sending partner, and the other with your receiving partner. Looking forward to it! ♥

For me, a postcard costs $1.60 to send overseas, and a letter under 50g costs $2.35. (Within Australia they both cost 60¢.) You guys should consider yourselves lucky, and I should cut back on the number of swaps I do....
