Description:

Do you love to embroider? Are you new to embroidery, and want an opportunity to practice? Would you like to start collecting finished embroidery pieces from around the world? If you said yes to any of these questions, then this swap is for you!

This is a swap for finished embroidery samples in hoops. The embroidery hoop must be 6"/15.2cm. You can use any embroidery techniques that you would like to do. You can make any pattern or picture of your choosing, as this first swap is purely sender's choice. Just make sure that you make something that you are proud of, and that you would like to receive. The hoops must also be nicely prepared for hanging. It would also be nice if you could somehow attach your name, date completed, and minimal contact information or your Swap-Bot name to the back of your piece. If you aren't sure how to prepare your piece for hanging, there is some great information at the following site: Preparing Hoop for Hanging at Wild Olive

I would really like to have an ongoing embroidery hoop swap, with different sizes, themes, colors, etc. each time, so I hope there is a lot of interest! If you have any questions or concerns, please message me!

Everyone, including newbies with a well-filled profile is welcome! However, I will be checking profiles and ratings, and will ban any questionable swappers or those with any 1's or unexplained 3's. I hope I don't have to do this, as I would love for everyone to be able to participate, but I must protect all of our good swappers! It isn't fair to put a lot of time and effort into a swap and have your own partner flake on you. That said, please let me know if you have any problems!

Because this is sender's choice, please rate a 5 if they sent you a completed 6"/15.2cm hoop, even if the design isn't to your taste. Please also remember that all skill levels are welcome to join!

My image is of one of my works in progress. It is not yet finished or prepared for hanging!

I've got too much on my plate right now but I love the idea of this swap. I hope I can join in another time!!

I hope you can join in next time, too! I'm so glad there is a bit of interest in this swap! :)

Wouldn't have the time this round, but sounds so nice! Good luck!

Hopefully next time! Thank you! :)

I would love to join, I cross stitch, is that like embroidery? I would like a mini cross stitch swap, maybe Christmas ornament.

I'm still watching and debating with myself but would I be allowed to use beads or charms? Does it all have to be embroidery thread or can I add wool or felt? Just making sure I really understand what is asked from me! :)

@lonesomedove2 cross stitching is fine! @YoZaTeCa as long as you do use some sort of embroidery, embellishments and appliqués are okay too!

Cool! I'm in! :)

In. Lol. I was debating it; wondering if I would have time, but 6" is pretty small, and you're giving a generous amount of time! :) Hope however I get likes it! :D

What fun! I don't always know what to do with my embroidery habit since you can only look at your own stuff so much. :)

Great idea. Looking forward to it.

Question--I have a 5x7" oval hoop I'd like to send. Would that meet the criteria? If not, of course I can do a 6" round instead.

lrm1980 09/24/2012 #

I'm so happy about all the excitement! @528katie Please use a 6" round hoop. I hope to have more embroidery swaps in the future, so maybe you can use your oval one next time! :)

Wow--not sure I can be friends with Miss Carey, but I am looking forward to seeing who my partner will be. :)

I started a project last night, but I will wait to see my partner's profile before I assume they'll like my tad bit ghoulish work.
