purple postcards

could I use a picture I took as a postcard for this?

Got my cards ready to go.......

This may be a silly question, but it's my first swap, so I want to make sure I do everything right.... Is it okay to mail the postcard in an envelope so that it doesn't get hurt in transit?

Ok, mine are all ready to go too!!! I will not be shamed this time!!!!!!!!! Last time I found postcards that had a picture of the city I live closest to and the background was mostly red (color of last month). I was so proud! Then, I started getting my postcards and they were absolutely beautiful!!! Even one handmade one that was gorgeous! I just hung my head all the way from the mailbox!! But, then I went to the craft store, got me some "stuff", some purple "stuff" and now I'm ready, so bring it on!!!!!

@ beckra: usually the cards are supposed to be send as postcards! but if yours are embellished a lot and you are not sure if they will make it, then put them in an envelope or ask your partners what they think...

Postage on the card: Here's a thought. You can have the card hand-stamped and then put it in a clear envelope to protect any embellishment.

I like to have them come through the mail with the postage on the card. I have sent/received many hand-made ones and they all do fine....even overseas.

Be prepared to pay an additional surcharge if you put them in clear envelopes. Good ole Post office, needs our money.

I have also put some post cards in envies to save them from being ruined, I don't want them to arrive all mangled and dirty.

I have never seen any clear envelopes, maybe I will check out michaels!

For clear envelopes Ifound the website www.clearenvelopes.com. Looked for them at Michaels and Hobby Lobby etc. didn't have the clear ones.

I got my postcard from Melinda (girlzoot)today and it was lovely! I just love being a part of this swap and as soon as I find the cord to my digital camera in my messy house, I'm going to post a picture of the "postcard collection board" I made.....So far I have three reds and one purple and it's getting to be very pretty! I was so excited to see that I got International for all three of my partners. Sent off the postcards today and hope they find their quick way to Sarizie in Australia and Chai-tea and Ellen in Canada. They are sparkly with sequins so I had them hand-cancelled so hope they make in fine shape.

I don't know about you guys, but I really had a hard time finding purple.

I made my purple, and sent it, but now I am having misgivings. I am afraid they will fall apart in the mail... two went outside US. So, I've found a store bought purple card that I think I am going to send just in case....

I haven't heard from any of the people I sent postcards too and I'm getting paranoid!! I made mine for the first time and now I'm thinking "OH NO, what if they fell apart!!!" I sure hope not, and if they did, please know the thought was still good!

I have to say that sometimes my fabric postcards must find their way to "other" homes as the last batch I mailed for St. Patrick's Day had three that didn't arrive! First time I had that happen.

Apparently none of mine have made their destination, so I think I know what happened. I live in a dorm, so we can drop off our mail at the student mail service and they take it to the post office for us. This department is run by students. It doesn't happen often, but mail HAS been known to disappear every so often. I'm thinking that may have happened since I sent most of my swaps at the same time and none of them made it. So, I just sent out a new batch of postcards. I'm really sorry guys. Feel free to rate me low if you want. I just felt you should still get your postcard, even if it's really late.

the USPS does weird stuff to mail, and life totally intervenes even when we have the best intentions, goldleader...don't feel bad. :) I totally hear you. My particular problem recently has been not being able to get into swap-bot when in the 15-minute window I've allotted myself on a hectic morning.

I really need to re-examine my life and priorities, heh heh...I mean that in all honesty. Living such that you can't spare the time log-in twice is crazy-making, to say the least. Ah, to be creative, gainfully employed, married, with children, three dogs, house and garden, in the wireless information age...My cup runneth over. And soaketh the tablecloth... :)

Hope mine have all arrived safely...

Our local post office has challenged days. My work has a post office box and we dropped our check with them for the payment of that box. It was addressed to the Postmaster (just like we are suppossed to). Well they said they didnt know where it was suppossed to go so they mailed it to Denver, Co (several states away) to their lost mail depoe. Which in turn made a copy of the check to send to us and disposed of the origional. Hello the check is addressed to you along with the payment slip for the box. It shouldnt be hard to figure out where it should go. why would you send it to another state and then shread the check. Made no sense...lol. They actually mailed us the copy of the check with a letter saying that they couldnt send the check back to us because they had no return address. WTF...how did you mail me the copy if you had no address? ....lol... somedays it's just easier to drive over one town and mail stuff from there.

I'm glad you liked your postcard cnvingltlbtch. Did either of the other two people get theirs? GoldLeader??? or SonicGirl? Just wondering!!
