Anything Oriental ATC Swap

Not sure but I think Asian is the politically correct term for Oriental.

I was under the assumption that when referring to the people and culture it's Asian, but if referring to an item, such as a rug or vase, you can use Oriental. Here's a great link about it!

That reference isn't the best as it often contradicts itself. (I read a few different articles) But I did some research and it seems your summary is correct. However, Oriental can be considered demeaning or racist so it might still be best not to use it. Can't hurt.

When I think of anything Oriental I think of beauty and mystery... I think most people know this is just a swap and they understand what it is about,,Things and people of the east,,Lets not make something racist of a atc swap, there is enough of that crap going in the world...

Amen, Raven! We're gonna PC ourselves into vanilla pudding. Sometimes you gotta say "suck it up, buttercup" and move on. Not everything is a slight.

I remember I was going to bring a Japanese Salad to work one time, years ago, and somebody said it'd be better to say "Oriental"! I had no idea somebody's nationality or race could be considered a slur.

hi there is no way the word oriental is considered racist or demeaning, anymore than Scandinavian European africian or American would be... its describing a culture noting more?
