"Cubomania is a surrealist method of making collages in which a picture or image is cut into squares and the squares are then reassembled without regard for the image." A rearrangement of one image creating an entirely new image.

With that in mind, find yourself an image (or 2), chop it up into squares and then reassemble those squares RANDOMLY onto a sturdy-enough-to-mail base. Ta-da, you have made a new work of art! Mail your new work of art as a postcard to your partner, signed and stamped.

Suggestions

• Be kind to yourself and cut your image in to 1 inch(ish) squares. They'll be a lot easier to reassemble in the end. If you go too big you'll end up with a piece that's not much more different/interesting than the original image. Too small will make for a very interesting piece, but will likely kill you. Not really, but it's pretty hardcore.
• You can use any kind of image, in part or whole. If you find one you like, but it's huge, feel free to cut out and use the most interesting part.
• And if you find an image you like but it's too small to translate into a postcard (3.5" x 5" minimum), you can cut up another image and add it - or give your postcard a border. Whatever.
