MFF: Bird-of-the-Month Tag: October: Raven

Hi swappers!

Have you joined each swap in the series? If so, this will be your 10th BOTM tag!

Did you know that each of the 12 months is associated with a specific bird? I found the list on Audubon and thought we'd create a tag with the bird-of-the-month--1 for each month.

So . . . according to Audubon, the bird for October WAS the swan. However, we all agreed that the raven is a more fitting choice for October and we'll be completing the swan tag in December.

As always, we'll create a size #6 tag (2-5/8"x5.25") and for October, we'll feature a raven. I know there are differences between a raven and a crow (beak shape, bird call, and flight style), but they look an awful lot alike to me. That said, try to find a raven image, but if you find the perfect crow, that's ok ;+)

Please begin with a sturdy base, crop the upper edges to create a tag shape, punch a hole at the top and string something (ribbon/jute/twine/charm) through.

January: Owl

February: Parrot

March: Robin

April: Canary

May: Nightingale

June: Dove

July: Eagle

August: Kingfisher

September: Hawk

October: Raven (this one!)

November: Rooster

December: Swan (switched with October)
