Gloomy Gothmas - Playlist in a Letter

Greetings, fellow creatures of the night!

We wish you a gloomy Gothmas and an eery new year.

I kindly ask you to sign up only if you agree to the sentiment and framework of this swap. It may deviate from the rules of other swaps. If you have questions, I will try my best to answer them.

For this swap, send your partner a letter containing a selection of dark music (minimum of 5 songs) that you enjoy listening to.

Don't worry too much about subgenre definitions; if you're somewhere on the gothic spectrum and you feel like a song matches the vibe, share it with your partner.

Please write(/draw/present/include) a little something in addition to the playlist, be it anecdotes related to the songs, interpretations, musings or ramblings about your life, completely unrelated to the songs. Just put some heart into it (figuratively speaking).

Put the letter in an envelope, seal it, add adequate postage and mail it. Easy as Mrs Lovett's Pie.

While the swap is sender's choice, please aim for something you would like to receive.

Please rate your partner a 5 if you receive a letter that meets the swap requirements.

This is an inclusive swap. You are most welcome to join

• if you can't write a letter by hand. Have the letter printed out instead.

• if you can't afford the postage. Message me and I will cover it (lightweight letters only, I can't cover package costs)

• if you don't have fancy stationery. There are other ways to make a letter nice. You could include personal stories, a poem, doodle something... I believe in your creativity.

• if you are semi-verbal, go non-verbal, struggle with making full sentences. There are alternatives to express your thoughtfulness: make art, send cut-outs, stickers, items you think the recipient might enjoy. If you think you can't do any of it but you have other ideas to make future swaps more inclusive, feel free to share them with me.

• if you might miss the deadline due to chronic illness, disability etc. If you realise you can't make the deadline, let your partner know and ask how long they'd be willing to wait (If you're anxious, message me instead, let me know who your partner is and I will talk to them for you). If you still can't make it, I will angel.
