Description:

PLEASE DO NOT JOIN THIS SWAP IF YOU DO NOT FULLY RESPECT ALL RELIGIONS!

I love religious imagery - all kinds - and love hearing about other peoples' interest in religious art. For this swap you will send your partner a postcard depicting an icon from any religious tradition. I imagine Buddha, the Virgin Mary, Hindu Gods/Goddesses, Catholic Saints, Pagan Gods/Goddesses, etc. This does not have to be your own religion but write a little note on the back about what intrigues you about the particular image/icon you have chosen. This particular swap is meant to respectful, informative, and artistic! No "kitsch" please!

Store-bought, naked, stamped, addressed, and written on only!

Anyone can join but I angel so I'll be checking for flakers before I assign partners!

Great idea!!

mwquilt 10/10/2010 #

Can I just check please...are we to send a postcard showing a painted or drawn representation of the religious figure...or is it allowable to have a postcard showing a statue ?

Thanks a lot

@mwquilt - any sort of image - statue, painting, apparition... just so the icon is the main focus.

Thankyou for clarifying, Lindall. I signed up and am looking forward to the swap.

@lindall you didn't specify storebought vs. handmade: can it be handmade?

so happy a swap like this came along ! L.A. being as diverse as it is , there is no shortage of religious imagery .

@melusina - thanks for the question. Store-bought please.

Musette 11/14/2010 #

@lindall What's a naked postcard please?

FiWebster 11/16/2010 #

Just in case you have a religious postcard that you're thinkin' is too kitschy for this swap, I'm hosting a Colorful, Kitschy Deity Postcard swap--handmade PC's allowed. Just FYI!

Fatherted 11/17/2010 #

naked postcards are send as postcards, written on, adressed and stamped. not in an envelope.
