Small Mixed Media Canvas Series, #1 **EDITED**

i love mixed media (gives me a chance to use my multitude of supplies and cover a lot of varied interests!), and judging by the responses in the N&FT forum, many of you do, too.

This is the first in a series of swaps exploring the art of mixed media on a small canvas. Each swap will contain a color aspect and/or a material, theme or technique. i may make changes to future swaps in the series as we go along - this is my first swap series, and i may decide to tweak this a bit as needed. For this one, we’ll be exploring the color green, as well as texture.

You will create one piece of mixed media art on a stretched canvas for one partner. (Can be any brand you choose, i only provided the link to avoid confusion concerning canvas type.) Sender’s choice in keeping with the following guidelines:

• Canvas: Stretched canvas: boxed canvas, mounted on wooden frame. Must be at least 4”x4” but no larger than 5”x7” (can be square or rectangular, 6”x6” is fine, or any size between the measurements given).
• Mediums: Incorporate at least 3 different mediums in your work, such as acrylic paint, collage, watercolor, pastels, pen and ink, rubber stamping, image transfers, printmaking, illustration, etc. Your choice of mediums, but make sure to use at least 3 different ones.
• Color: Green (in any shade you choose) needs to be the dominant color, but you may add any other colors to the palette as you wish.
• Texture: This can be added in a variety of ways. Examples of texture inclusions are: textured paper, embossing, heavy-bodied acrylic paints, mediums, gesso, etc. There are many ways to add texture – be creative and make something that feels as well as looks interesting.

i’m giving a decent amount of time for this one so that everyone can enjoy the process and not feel rushed. Please be sure to package up your creation carefully to safely reach its destination. Make sure you sign your work!
