Description:

It seems that almost everthying comes in a cardboard box these days (food items, office supplies, household kits, etc.). Why not put those boxes to good use before recycling the rest? Taken out of context, some of the box images can be pretty cool. Get creative and see what kind of fun and funky postcards you can make out of that cereal box (for example). Try and stick with thin cardboard boxes rather than thick (for example, packing boxes are probably too thick and more costly and bulky to send than a cereal box) and cut them to the standard 4 x 6 postcard shape.

For this swap you will be asked to send 1 postcard to 5 different people. This swap is open to international swappers.

If this swap turns out to be a hit it will be repeated in the future. Feel free to contact me with any questions.

Happy swappng!

I love paper and I love finding new ways to recycle paper, so I'm going to sign up for this!

Thanks! I am glad you decided to sign up. This is yet another fun and inventive way to recycle. Pass the word on!

Great idea for a swap! I love making my cards from recycled boxes. I've got a couple ready and have to go through the pantry again...

Eager for this, my first swap.

Hi Folks,

It might be nice if you make a note on the postcard of what the box used to be (especially if it is not obvious).

I am so excited to send my cards!

I got my first card today, from Paper Princess. It is the back of a cereal box and is VERY cool. Great idea, fun swap. Looking forward to the rest.

I have received two postcards so far! Thank you to Jackie for the Tony the Tiger postcard and Sandy Rose for the cereal "excerpt". I think it is from a Kashi cereal box because of the words "7 whole grains on a mission".

I've mailed all 5 of mine today, too, and they were so fun to create.

Let's do this one again! I love to recycle trash into useful and inexpensive/simple things!

I've just uploaded into the Gallery the two postcards I've received so far! Enjoy! I'd love to see what everyone else receives!

They all look really cool so far! I hope mine make it there safe, I posted them over a week ago.

I got my first postcard today (not sure when it arrived, just depends when I get to check my PO box), from Paper Princess.

I love it! It's quite amazing that what might seem ordinary in our pantry all of a sudden becomes exotic when it arrives in the mail! I love this swap, and I know many other people who would love to join in another one of these :)

received a card from Melanie today, from a cereal box. Curious as to what kind of cereal it is, because it actually looks really good. Anyway, thanks Melanie!! One more to go.

Those are actually my daughters breakfast, they're a store brand, just sold as wheat biscuits, but brand name varieties in Australia are WeetBix or Vita Brits. (http://www.simplyoz.com/closeup.php?8223)

In England they're called Weetabix. I don't know what you'd call them in the US. I think they're horrible ;)

I also got two more cards today, a Puffin one from Poggy123, thanks Jackie! What was in that box? and one from Linda, that was a box of chocolates - very cool! You didn't include your username though Linda, so I'm not sure who you are :)

Melanie - if I can remember, I will let you know. Right now I don't remember. Jackie
