About Me

I'm a 60's something retired Australian, and I live in a small country town in northern New South Wales, Australia, tucked under a huge extinct volcano. I have two children, a son and daughter, and 4 beautiful grandchildren.

I am passionate about the environment and sustainable living, and do my best to live a gentle earth friendly lifestyle. I live on a small suburban block that's like a mini-farm..I keep chickens, grow my own fruit and vegetables, save and store rainwater.

I love and care for my daughter's very old cat, and two delightful and sweet, but very timid and skittish rescued cats.

I love to travel, India being my favourite place, and meeting new people, and embracing new experiences...bit like swapping.

I've swapped with other groups in the past, and always put a lot of time, thought and creativity into what I do, and send on time. I get mightily peeved when the compliment isn't returned, or people don't send at all.

Favourite Music I have fairly eclectic music tastes, but usually have my radio tuned to a classical station, I enjoy jazz, and blues.

Favourite Books Oh, books.....too many favourites to mention, and I never remember titles anyway...I love gory murder mysteries with forensic anthropology investigations, will happily read a 'decent ' romance, no Mills and Boon though, enjoy travelogues, true stories about people's lives and their journeys, I love to know how they react and grow through difficult times. I'd probably read anything except war stories and westerns.

Favourite Movies Not much of a movie goer, but Under the Tuscan Sun and the first Star Wars come to mind. Similar tastes as my reading preferences I guess..

Favourite TV Shows Not much of a tv watcher either, I enjoy documentaries, true stories, history, and have to confess that despite it's political incorrectness and warped attitudes towards women which I cringe at, Two and a Half Men makes me laugh out loud....go figure.

Favourite Crafts Oh, where to start.....felting, wet and dry, mixed media, making things from recycled/upcycled items, knitting, quilting, art quilting, doll making, beading, embroidery, and mixing and combining these together where I can. I like to make useful things for my home...I knit dishcloths, make produce and tote bags for shopping, usually from something I've found at the op shop (thrift store). I can't just 'sit', must have a project in my hands to work on.

Other Favourite colours are purple and fuschia/berry pinks, blue and yellow. I'm a vegan, like to cook and feed people, give my time and energy to charities...people and animal.

I like to receive swaps that have recycled items in them, are a bit creative and funky, and thoughtful....no glitter and glue preferably, and I like things that are neatly finished......because that's what I do!
